Waiting for the Baboons to be cleared from the garden before I go for a swim. Never a dull moment in Africa. , , ,

5 days in Cape Town, we are having a family Christmas and chilling out by the pool but have already fitted in wind swept views of Table Mountain from Blaawberg, a picnic at Boschendal Wine Estate, beach time at Llandudno Beach, and an amazing chefs tasting menu at Chef's Warehouse Beau Constantia.

Today may be some time taking in the view of the twelve apostles. Not sure yet, need to get up first.

While I’m still not walking without my boot, I’m getting there. Lots of progress in walking - I even got down steepish slope to the beach:)

My way on crutches into a restaurant for lunch:) yay, go crutches and progress

I’m sipping a glass of port, thinking back to our tour to Portugal this summer and our time in the Douro Valley.

This stunning region has been a world heritage site since 2001. It has been a wine growing region since around the 1st century AD! That’s back to the Roman times! Today the landscape is covered in terraced vineyards, the only area producing Port.

We thoroughly enjoyed exploring this area, with vineyard visits, picnics with a view and dinner in a very special greenhouse.

Port wine became an important part of the wine growing in the Middle Ages, and by the 18th century it had become a major industry.

Day 3 - ladies tour to Portugal with The Adventurous Woman travel co.

Obidos, with its awesome walled town and great character, Nazaré where we ate in the oldest restaurant in town. This town has the highest waves in the world, watch out for my post about that! And finally into Hotel Quinta das Lágrimas. Such a beautiful spot.

Day 2 - Sintra

We arrived enshrined in an eerie mist, showing Sintra at its mystical best. First stop Pena Palace, peaking at us showing her yellows through the mist. Around each corner a new feature enthralled us, this is definitely a very special place.

By the time we had toured the interior, the sun had come out, showing off this beautiful yellows and reds.

After a lunch stop, we walked the gardens of Quinta da Regaleira, and the amazing well. Such a magical place.

A great day, much fun had, lots of laughing:)
