Well, here we are at the end of February, where have the last two months gone?
Today, the weather was very spring like where I live, which turned my thoughts towards getting out of my winter clothes and into spring/summer attire. Time to get serious with my workouts!

Well here we are in a new year. As you reflect on the past year; did you accomplish what you wanted to with your fitness and health? What do you want to accomplish this year? By taking small steps consistently over time you will succeed. There is no quick fix that will last, so if you are tired of starting over again and again, don't stop. Stay consistent and gradually work up to where you want to be, write out your plan, refer to it often and be willing to make adjustments as needed. Consistency consistency consistency. Happy Healthy New Year!

Here is a great article with some ideas on how to avoid overeating this holiday season.

It is perfectly OK to indulge on occasion, sans the guilt, without gaining weight. The trick is to enjoy what you are eating, and to eat mindfully while avoiding overindulging and gaining weight in the process.

The importance of resistance training;
We lose 3-5% of muscle mass per decade after the age of 30 if you don't do anything about it. The less muscle mass you have the lower your metabolism, so as you lose 3-5% of muscle your metabolism gets slower and slower as you age. The only way to stop this decline is to do resistance training with weights, body weight and/or bands. Things that challenge your muscles and makes them sore. Bicep curls, triceps dips, shoulder presses, rows, squats, lunges, there are a whole host of things you can and should do for all your muscles. Cardio is great for your heart but resistance training is good for your bones and metabolism. Each one has its place and should be done 3-4 times a week. If you have questions please reach out to me, I would be happy to help in any way possible.

Jen

If you’re actively involved in strength and conditioning, I think it’s safe to say you live among people that are “different.”  Supposedly, there are all these people out there that don’t even lift, hate their lives, and eat horrible things.  Meanwhile, everyone I know is fairly active, loves their…
