Way to go Tulsans!!!!!!!!

Excited to announce today that we have closed on the old State Farm campus in East Tulsa and will repurpose it as the City of Tulsa’s new public safety center!

For years, public safety leadership has been asked to worked in crumbling facilities. The water in Police HQ that comes out of the tap is brown. In Fire HQ, they have to abandon their building any time water gets too high in the Arkansas River because it is in a flood plain. Same for the facility that maintains our fire trucks. And Tulsa Area Emergency Management - the team that leads our response to natural disasters - works out of a moldy basement with unreliable heating and air.

I know that if my fellow Tulsans - who love our first responders - had seen these conditions firsthand they would’ve been as embarrassed and outraged as the City Council and I were. Thanks to voters who approved Improve Our Tulsa last summer, these conditions will be a thing of the past.

Our new Public Safety Center will bring together those who keep us safe for better collaboration in better working conditions: Tulsa Fire Department HQ; Tulsa Police Department HQ; Tulsa Police Mingo Valley Division; Tulsa Area Emergency Management; and City Medical will all be relocated to this center. Additionally, the City will build a modern maintenance facility for Fire trucks and Police cruisers.

All of this to say: thank you Tulsa for supporting the men and women who keep our city safe!

Yesterday, 3 of our training Cadre assisted Bixby Fire Department with their first in-house Academy Live Burns at Owasso Fire Department.

Owasso has a state of the art training facility at Station 4 and continues to allow many outside departments to train there. This has drastically benefited our department as we’re sure it has for every crew that gets a chance to burn at their facility.

Huge thanks to Bixby Fire Department for inviting us out, and as always thanks to Owasso Fire Department for allowing us to train at your facility again.

Good luck to all the new recruits over at Bixby🙌

Every year, members from each crew participate in a 9/11 stair climb to remember the fallen. For members on duty, the climb must be completed within their response district.

Today will always be solemn, and the sacrifice that was made by 343 members of the FDNY serve as a reminder that our service shall remain selfless. It’s about THEM > US.

The Wichita Fire Department and the City of Wichita are extremely saddened to announce that at approximately 3:22 PM while operating at a mutual aid fire in Haysville, one of Wichita’s bravest was injured in the line of duty, and later succumbed to their injury.

The Wichita Fire Department is working to ensure family members are all appropriately notified. We will not release the name of this firefighter until then. We respectfully ask the same of anyone that may know the firefighter.

This is a loss that deeply weighs heavily on all of us. All of the dedicated individuals who serve our fire department do so knowing the immense risk they are undertaking and do it with noble, selfless regard. It does not make their sacrifice any less immense. Nor the sacrifice of their loved ones and family any easier.

Please keep this firefighters family and crew in your prayers. We will update the community on any additional information as it becomes available.
