Spring is here and the pruning will soon come to a temporary end.
Time to add natural fertilizer and new mulch.

Composting is one of the best things you can do for yourself and the garden. January is blueberry bush pruning time and here at the GLO we grow Tifblue and Titan rabbit eye blueberries. Both of these varieties were created and cultivated by The University of Georgia. We’d just like to take this opportunity to say Goooooooo Dawgs!! Sic’em WOOF WOOF WOOF WOOF 🙂

We have big plans for 2023 and it starts with finishing our “new” shed. The foundation, made from 2x8s, was pulled from a backyard renovation in downtown Atlanta. We salvaged the frame and some metal roofing from Savannah. We
bought 2 boxes of staggered shake from Habitat from Humanity Restore for a pretty face, and supported locals for the remainder of the supplies… totaling in under $1000 including gas. We couldn’t have accomplished this much without my parents and our dear friends! Check back soon to see our finished product ;)

Making a burn barrel with a Chicago Steel drum. This barrel was made and filled with a fine oil blend of coconut, palm, and olive oil by a women owned company out of Chicago. The oil was used to make natural body care products right here in ATL. We love catching these types of barrels before they hit the land fill or sit around outside for too long.

Ghada and I trying to ”fig”ure out what types of fig trees we have. These are sample leaves from each tree. We eventually numbered them and separated them into 4 different groups according to similarities in the lead patterns. Some had breba crops, some didn’t. Some came late, some not at all, some were massive, and some were small, dark, and round. Next summer we will get pictures with leaves and fig samples.
