Oh what fun! 🎅🏻🤿🎄✨🦈

Our Kyalami Crew Holiday Party this year was definitely one for the books! We wore ugly sweaters, decorated and ate way too many festive cookies, survived a dirty Santa gift exchange, and of course spread lots of holiday cheer!

We are so grateful to have the hardest working and most talented crew in the biz. From our Kyalami Family to yours, happy holidays! ❤️

Felt so good to be back out there today! And conditions did not disappoint. Blue water with 50ft of viz, 83° temp, and mild north current. It was a bit choppy topside with 2-3ft seas, but underneath was magical! We saw several morays, a massive school of spadefish, a Goliath very well hidden in a hole under the ledge, and so much more! We also had 2 guests catch their first ever lobsters with their private guide .

Unfortunately since we’d been off the reefs for over a week, lots of trash had also accumulated. Thanks to DM .swizzle for doing his part to clean up.

In this week’s “Meet the Crew” feature, let’s get to know Divemaster Drew Anders!

Originally hailing from east Tennessee, Drew moved to Florida in 2017 where he fell in love with the ocean and developed a passion for scuba diving, especially spearfishing. Drew has been with the Kyalami family since July 2022. He says he loves being able to show others God’s beautiful creation underwater, and has been known to slay with a speargun. 😉

Drew has a bachelors degree in Biology & Chemistry from Milligan University and played 4 years of college baseball. In addition to being a dive professional, Drew serves patients as a Physician Assistant, working in various orthopedic surgery specialties including Trauma, General, Joint replacement, Sports Medicine, and Deformity Correction.

Drew also has many other hobbies - riding motorcycles, playing guitar and singing - but most of all, Drew likes being around his friends and meeting new people - and he can’t wait to see you on the dive boat soon!

Have you been out diving with Drew? Let us know in the comments! ⬇️

We got out there today and WOW - 100ft+ of top to bottom viz, warm blue water at 84 degrees and a very mild current. A bit sporty on top with 3-4ft seas but our crew and customers still had a blast diving Scarface and Loggerhead where they saw reef sharks, lemon sharks, anemones, and a massive school of spadefish.

Good times out there today!

Kyalami Crew and several customers were representing for Breast Cancer Awareness month. 💕

And we had epic conditions below the water! 70ft of viz at Area 51, warm 83° water and tons of life. Divers came up talking about schools of tropical fish and at least 10 reef sharks were spotted along the ledge!

Viz was closer to 60ft on Capt. Kirles, but still an incredible dive with so much life! Goliath, turtles and sharks were a few of the usual subjects that came to visit us.

Let’s talk surface marker buoys!

Often times lovingly referred to as a safety sausage, these inflatable tubes are arguably one of the least expensive and most important pieces of safety equipment you should have in your kit. All diving in Jupiter is drift diving, and we know that our current can be strong. Having a large SMB (min 6ft) can help Captain find you if you separate from the group and ensure you make it back safely. We also have a large amount of boat traffic in Jupiter and brightly colored SMBs offer a clear signal to boaters to steer clear.

Pro tip: practice inflating your surface marker buoy on your safety stop or even better, get a reel with more line and inflate from depth for maximum safety. Need help mastering this skill? Hire a private guide or sign up for an advanced course with one of our instructors.

In this week’s “Meet the Crew” feature, let’s get to know a man of many talents - Captain Zach!

Zach is a born and raised Floridian and grew up in and around West Palm beach. His early days were spent on the water surfing along the beaches, fishing and water skiing on the Palm Beach canal system. He got his first boat at the age of 10 and has been involved in water sports since then.

Zach has been a United States Coast Guard Captain for over 20 years and currently holds a 200 GT license. Certified in 1983 and instructor in 2001, scuba diving has led to many hobbies including photography both terrestrial and marine. We feel Zach’s love and passion for the ocean is best captured in his stunning photographs - check out a few from his portfolio here in this post.

Bringing along his local knowledge, friendly demeanor, and infectious laugh, you can usually find Zach in and around the ocean in his free time. You can catch up with Zach on both our Jupiter and Palm Beach boats - and he hopes to see you out diving with us soon!

Is the ocean where you find your happy place? Do you wish you could share the magic and beauty of the underwater world with your non-diving friends and family? Come out with us and add a private guide + photography package to any of our trips - we will help you capture those specials moments to cherish and to share!

That’s exactly what our client Robin did on a 2-tank dive with us - visiting our beautiful reef and the goliath grouper on the wrecks. She was then able to share her happy place with her parents over the weekend.
