Time for some Jiu Jitsu! We went over attacks from the Mounted Position and Escapes. Covered Escapes from the Guarded Positions. Then it was 3 Gi Chokes from the Standing and while in the Guard. Everyone had couple free rolls with their partner to end our Ground Grappling session. Seems like everyone was going Straight Arm Bar crazy! No injuries to report!
Then myself and the Black Belts executed couple color belt promotions. My niece, Anela, who has been with the club for 4 years going on 5 got her Kajukenbo Junior Black Belt tonight. Very proud of her! Congratulations to all! She has been putting in the extra work on the weekends along with Emilio, Cayleb and Caydence. Stay motivated and keep on training hard.

I’m so excited! My padded 5 foot staffs came in today. Made by Nick Papadakis of Kombat Instruments Limited! I’m now ready for my next challenge. Time to study, test and complete Burton Richardson’s Battlefield Kali Staff course.

Having fun while we spar, spar and spar! Last night we did the rounds. Couple rounds of Boxing, Kickboxing, and Padded Stick / Knife. Finished off with our FKJ Kajukenbo techniques.

Another Saturday morning training session from 10am - 11am. The usual Anela, Cadynce and Cayleb. Anela preparing for her Junior Black Belt test and the two brother and sister preparing for our FKJ Kajukenbo Green Belt test.
Went over our forms 1-4, tournament Kajukenbo Combination and the Bolo Blade Kata/Carenza.
Good job! Keep on practicing at home!

It was a little nippy outside last night. Training session in the garage. Went over our open and close hand drills to include the elbow of destruction. Hubud drills with training knife. Padded knife sparring to complete the knife session. Some Sinawali double sticks towards the end.

Hello 2025…back to the drawing board! Basic fundamentals! Preparing some of our color belts and senior brown belt for promotion to the next level. Stay motivated and obligated! Twas the last training session of 2024…Christmas and New Year’s break coming up very soon! Here we come 2025!
Striking and Kicking drills on the stationary bag. Mixed combinations towards the end. Double sticks, Sinawali, training finished the practice. More gifts was given and we was able to take a quick Christmas group photo 👊🏼

Last training session for student Alexis last night. I was randomly selecting some of our punch counters, grab arts, ground grappling techniques. Alexis was going through a surprise testing! We finished off with katas/forms and some open hand sparring.
The FKJ Club wants to wish Alexis and her Ohana all the best, safe travels back to the mainland. You did a great job at every class you attended and met the requirements for Junior Blue Belt promotion 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Here is a snap shot of my Kajukenbo lineage. I’m listed twice. One on my first Kajukenbo Black Belt under Chuck Stevenson where I learned the Emperado Method, hard style Kajukenbo. I then left GM Stevenson. One of the main reasons for this was that he could not give me any more knowledge. For me it was all about always gaining more knowledge. Never stop learning. I then went to GGM Sifu Al Dela Cruz where I learned Kajukenbo Chu’an Fa Kung-Fu, soft style Kajukenbo. Sifu Al was all about sparring towards the ending of every class. I became more well rounded and a better fighter.
On the bottom right corner the picture shows my name with all the Black Belts that I created. Under the FKJ Club not only will the student learn the hard and soft style to Kajukenbo. They will also learn the basics to Kali and Ground Grappling. To keep up with the ever evolving game of mixed martial arts. One should know more on weaponry and the ground tactics.
There are some names of my Black Belts that still need to be added to the list. I need to contact the Kajukenbo Tree Keeper to make this happen, SGM Philip Gelinas. Names to be added are Lubie Lagmay, Ren Mansilungan, Richard Partido, and Bernie Abarquez. His daughter Rheean Abarquez will be promoted to Kajukenbo Black Belt at this year’s Club Christmas Party come December.
