Another funnest one ever story!

We just enjoyed our sixth annual Baconfest After Party here at Finch Gardens!

Let me start this out with God Bless K J DeSoto because when it was all said and done and I was finally getting to breath and enjoy a bite…she made the mess go away! You can’t buy that..it comes from the heart…and so many thanks to Robert Boccabella who got here in time to set up tables and chairs and Mr Bacon, Rick White, pulled out all the stops and set us up for a memorable gathering!
Good Ol’ Boys manned the BBQ (thank you Mauro and Hoss!!) while Rick warmed the buns and roasted the onions to perfection!

Simple Costco Fare (burgers, pot salad, beans…blackberry crisp from Finch Gardens with homemade vanilla ice cream) as focus was on each other. Sharing our Baconfest experience and doing our best to determine what we can do better next year.

So wonderful to have met Glenda of Mama G”s Kitchen and her friend Chris and Jessica and Jerry from Jr.’s Grill as well as Ryan, the man rocking the kitchen at Twin Pine Casino!

We are so thankful to these Baconfest Chefs who took the time to attend this gathering and share their observations with us! Who better to ask and answer?!?

This was a good night! We missed some folks like Jason Chavez and Caroline…🙁
We sure were glad to see Kim Riley, Jayson Lyon Rehder, Javier Castaneda Torres, Mauro Lopez and Company, Rachel White, Christie White, Luis Castelero, Lisa Belvail-Cowdrey, Tod Elliot, Alicia Antonini, …it’s late and I’m old, please forgive me if I missed you…

I am finally catching my breath after a dream come true gathering here at FFinch Gardenswith NO cars…only friends and family…for the only time ever in 24 years!!!
Wild, what a difference that made…

Huge thanks to Dr. Betat (my neighbor on one side) and JJayson Lyon Rehder(down the street neighbor) for sharing their parking areas!
Made for some trailblazing for a few unsuspecting guests but I certainly did not sense any ruffled feathers and am beyond grateful that folks seemed, for the most part, to embrace it as part of the experience…😊

I have been thinking and thinking about this post since the party two weeks ago (three now) but from party, recovery, clean up and then jumping into Baconfest madness, there has not been a minute to share…but…I have to acknowledge and confirm that my birthday party for 65ers was the best time I could ever have imagined!

Of all the wonderful thoughts that I have been left to enjoy these last weeks…the thing that comes to mind more than anything else I want to relate, is the thanks that I have been overwhelmed with...

Thanks for so many Lake Co friends who, when I mentioned I was having a party, said “what can I do to help?!?” Thank you Naomi Key and DDonna Nozzolillofor serving our meal and thank youSue Herrenbrock for pouring our beer and wine! Thanks to Marlana MMarlana Sarandi Gould and Wine in the Willows where we had such a great time choosing wines!
Thanks to Jeff Brand and BBob Lucatortofor making the band sound so darn good!!
Thanks to RRick White, Real Estate Professionalfor making sure I had plenty of coolers on hand. Thanks to LLori Tassielli Richardsonfor keeping me assured and in good humor…basically taught me how to herd cats! 😂
Thanks to my neighbor Jayson Lyon for his great ideas and fearless undertaking of these objectives! And for just saying hello last year so that we might become friends…a lucky day indeed!
Thanks to my most awesome cousin, Hal Garcia, for getting busy in my yard darn near the minute he arrived here from Seattle!
Thanks to Hailey Finch for recognizing that she prefers to be helpful in advance…before the hair on fire stage of my activity! She was brilliant and I believe that her effort helped us side step the hair on fire stage entirely…🥰
Thanks to my sweet son, Noah, who brought his right hand man,
Geno Poloni, to assist him with the triple header BBQ effort ! More thanks to all of the BBQ masters who gathered to coach them…Uncle Todd, Cory Call, Uncle Earl…Javier Casteneda when he wasn’t rockin the tacos!!
Thanks to all of my Lake Co friends who provided so much incredible food! Gotta be careful what you wish for in this crowd because they never disappoint!! I say that with so much love…especially now, as so many of us are wrapping up our 6th Annual Baconfest event and I am still feeling awestruck by the magic that makes it happen…the level of volunteerism and can do attitude that this community puts forth to make this tradition something for families to remember for a life time is such a blessing to be a part of! Thanks to my/our Baconfest Family!!!!!

I should probably leave it at that as this is turning into what should have been a chapter book😂

Kelseyvillans made me incredibly proud last night…
Seeing a twinkle of gentle in Clayton Duncan’s eyes tonight while he so respectfully listened to Mary Morse share her views was priceless. Pride looks so much better on a man than pain…

I would give anything to have heard what she said…

Wayne and Eagle…it did my heart so good to see that little bit of ice broken…no easy job fellas! Feelings are strong…thank you gentlemen for having your best foot forward tonight and braving that challenging conversation! It made us all feel good!

Have to commend Rick Winer for managing the madness so masterfully! He respectfully held his ground and moved forward with his meeting in an orderly fashion and folks had the good sense to move along.

I have to say, I was most impressed with the glimpse that I did capture of the class representatives reporting on campus developments.

Given what this young man had been experiencing for the previous 1/2 hour and the ambiant temperature in the room, he carried forth masterfully!! Bravo Young Man!

The part I didn’t like was the us against them feeling that I have previously never known…feels like this name change has me pitted against people that I don’t have a problem with….I found myself wanting to go hug one of them cuz I am so sorry that this is happening…there are so many things that I would love to bring, offer, share, nurture, change, if my Native American neighbors wished it…but changing my name isn’t one of them .

Our small tight knit community…and anyone who wishes to be a part of it…we are family because we bear one name…

Had the nicest day yesterday hiking yesterday with a bunch of my favorite moms! So many afternoons spent sitting at the park with these gals and when our kids got old enough, we started sitting in a restaurant once a month without them. So many laughs as motherhood is such an ongoing activity of laughing, crying, shouting, singing, hugging, learning, teaching, more learning…such a blessing to have each other to share it all with!!

Thank you Carrie McClure, Amy Williams, Lori Halter Rolfe for a magnificent day at our lovely State Park!

Managed to work in a visit to one of my dearest friends who lives on the coast up Meyers Grade Rd just above Jenner, where I worked with her for many years at the River’s End Restaurant!

Hard to drive through the Monte Rio curves and not remember how our entire crew from the restaurant would fly through there at night after finishing our shifts, sharing a meal and a glass of wine and a little attitude adjustment…🤣

Lucky for me Missy doesn’t get car sick…but I think it was a pretty long drive for her.

Can’t quite get over how satisfying it was to spend a few hours with my friends, Susan Kennedy and her Sweet Tony…and while I was in the neighborhood, I couldn’t keep myself from dropping in and stealing a hug (or three) from another favorite friend Steve Trippe…disappointed that I didn’t see Dave Dahlquist’s car out in front…🙁

Happy Day in my old neighborhood …❤️

Business meetings are never all play...we had to discuss some upcoming events:

Ernie Padilla hosts the Dirty Hands, Clean Cars Show at Library Park on May 11
Rich Scogill, with much assistance from Lynn Corey at Lady Luck Garage will be hosting Test and Tune Event at Buckingham Golf Course May 17-19
Lore of the Lake Historical Tours hosted by Lake Co. Theatre Company will take place in downtown Kelseyville on June 1 from 1pm-5pm
Bottlerock Candle Studio is hosting in house DIY classes on a drop in basis!! Gotta love that!!

Unfortunately, there is no escaping the fact that Kelseyvillans are under attack by those who believe that to love our town enough to fight for our name would suggest that we are KelsEVIL and white supremacists. People who build amazing towns, don't just lie down and say, "no, really, just erase us and have it for yourselves!"

They don't...they engage the likes of a Rachel White and put her in cahoots with Summer Brown and they build a website www. SaveKelseyville.com so that Kelseyvillans can find the information they need to reach out to the officials who are responsible for deciding this matter. and so they can share the wonderful stories that are the heart of our community! They have taken this on as a campaign to win and determine the name of our town once and for all!

If you are a concerned citizen from ANYWHERE who understands that your name matters...then you are invited to go to our website and find address for the Bureau of Geographical Names in Washington DC and the California Advisory Committee on Geographical Names in Sacramento.

We may have had the funnest mixer yet tonight at Kelseyville Lumber hosted by Two Chicks Events who rolled in exactly one hour before our event (after driving through every weather imaginable to deliver Auntie as far East as they could go and back) making for a NINE day road trip to Norman, OKLAHOMA)…they rolled in right on time to make sure that all was as it should be for our Kelseyville Business Association Spring Mixer. The caterer they provided, Bees Knees…presented a beautiful array of delectable fare and Chase the Entertainer provided quiet amazement for our members ahead of our meeting!

Only Lisa, Christie and Marta (Two Chicks plus ONE) could have done it !! They are just those friends that could never let the other one go it alone! Those are some kind of friends!

Anyway…so many people came out tonight for our gathering…Marie, Lianne, George, Kamlin, Scott, Javier, Becky, Terry, Pam, Cindy…and represented so many Kelseyville Businesses and Sutter Hospital Lakeport, Tim is so busy getting to know his neighborhood…and Marie shared Lore of the Lake info with us, Kelseyville Sunrise Rotary shared about their medical equipment “library” where Lake Co citizens may find and “borrow” medical equipment that they only need long enough to get better…then, they get to give it back! Lynn Corey of Lady Luck Garage talked about the Test and Tune Event on May 18-19 at Buckingham Golf Course where there will be speed boats in the water, on land and alongside of classic cars and more classic cars!
Cindy Bain talked about the Mike Riley Scholarship for the youngster, not with the best grades…but who best serves his community.

I do believe that we had good laughs and wove our fabric just a little bit tighter tonight!! 🧡KELSEYVILLE🧡
