A friend of mine sent me this a couple of days ago. Apparently, the Discovery Science Channel re-ran the episode of a program where I was asked to explain abyssal gigantism. The program was shot in 2019 and originally aired in 2020. I had no idea they were still airing that show. I guess I should have asked about residuals. LOL

For all you parents, friends, and former students/campers who've been asking me when am I going to do a camp in the Florida Keys for "big kids" (18 and over), I'm happy to announce that I'll be doing a weekend Marine Biology Camp from February 28 - March 2, 2025 in the fabulous Florida Keys. I was able to get the Beach Boys to kick off the weekend with a concert (OK, so they were going to be there anyway LOL) and since I started doing camps in 1978, their opening song will be "Do it Again" (OK, so they were going to open with that anyway LOL). Registration is now open. Just click the tab on our website: www.marinebiologycamp.net.

Thank you to the Key Biscayne Community Foundation for sponsoring a breakfast for the police officers who assisted my counselors and I during our Marine Biology Camp fish tagging program at the Mashta bridge this summer. We really appreciate all that the KBPD does for the residents of Key Biscayne.

Thank you to the Islander News for running this story about my upcoming Veteran's Day Marine Biology Camp. Please note that the correct phone number is 305-331-1489.

An island tradition continues with Gerard Loisel’s one-day marine biology camp for kids interested in science. The camp has been running since the 1980s, and this year, Loisel will take advantage of a Teacher Planning Day on November 11 to bring the kids together for the experience. https://1l.ink/CPQWQ8K

Thank you to Linda, her daughter, and the staff at the Dolphin Reseach Center in Grassy Key for once again providing an exceptional program for the campers. The girl in the photo enjoyed interacting with the dolphins, but since she also has a keen interest in reptiles, she was just as excited to see the rare Madagascar giant day geckos that also live on the Reseach Center property.

We went looking for crocodiles today as part of Marine Biology Camp Day 4. We came across one that was being escorted to the water by a flock of Ibises. It shouldn't surprise anyone that these birds don't seem to fear crocodiles, considering that they're the last sign of wildlife to take shelter before a hurricane (and the first to reappear after the storm).

Thank you to the Village of Key Biscayne for issuing a permit to Marine Biology Camp allowing us to fish on the Mashta Bridge as part of our traditional Friday fish tagging day. Thank you also to the Key Biscayne police officers who come out to help us with traffic control on the bridge while the kids are fishing. On Friday, we saw more manatees and we tagged and released a 12" mangrove snapper.
