By trade, Jerry is a graphic designer and owner of a design company, Vanto Graphics, specializing in web design and development. Jerry first discovered the joy of painting in 1969 after she redeemed Top Value stamps (anyone remember those?) for an oil painting kit. She painted a few landscapes but being a mother of four didn't allow the time needed and the painting was quickly left behind. A few y
ears ago Jerry ventured into digital painting and sold several children’s portraits and wildlife artwork. She fell in love with the beauty of the islands, and the thought of painting this incredible rainbow of colors soon brought out the urge to go back to the easel. Although she has worked with colored pencil, watercolor, and acrylic, her favorite medium is oil on stretched canvas. Jerry shares a passion for all things Maui and especially the vibrant beauty of the tropical florals and plants. She loves the opportunity that her paintings allow her to share this beauty with visitors to the island and to give those who are unable to visit the chance to feel an affinity with the Aloha spirit. Jerry’s passion takes her and her Nikon everywhere on the island from a local plant farm to just wandering her Kihei neighborhood looking for opportunities to photograph a fresh new flower bloom or photograph a new view of the sandy beaches of the Pacific. She then recreates that precious moment on canvas to share with the world. Jerry’s artwork may be found on her Fine Art Maui website. (www.fineartmaui.com)
