The Town of Kill Devil Hills is collecting donations to benefit Northeastern North Carolina Toys for Tots and for Children & Youth Partnership for Dare County's Diaper Bank. The Town will be collecting donations through December 17, 2024.

Today we spare a moment in our busy lives to pause in solemn remembrance.

On September 11, 2001, nearly 3,000 people lost their lives when four commercial airliners were hijacked and used to strike iconic U.S. targets. To many, the nation seemed... shattered, perhaps irrevocably so. We were changed forever. Yet, through our collective shock and grief, we also found stark reminders of the incredible strength of the human spirit.

Today, over 100 people participated in the Outer Banks 9/11 “March to Remember”, walking from the Fire & Emergency Services Station in Kill Devil Hills to the Wright Brothers Monument and back again, in honor of those who were lost and those who survived. This annual tradition has grown since its inception, and we are honored to be a part of it - to be part of a community which remembers.
