It doesnt matter where you saw it really, because it is the same sun, and every day has a different sunrise. Believe it or not, there are many who haven't seen this occurrence. It is one of the most breathtaking sights I have ever seen in my existence on this planet. It's not just about the sun coming up either, its about the sun waking the world up. Its almost like everyone and everything listens
to the sun when it says "hey, i'm here now, you all need to go outside and enjoy me"
Snowy Ocean Entertainment is a film company I started in 2007. Kevin Daley and I were in my backyard in early November trying to use the dusting of snow we had just received to hit an old rail. This is what Snowy Ocean is about; friends riding together, camping, laughing, fires, getting stoked, backyard rails in July with hockey rink snow, and most of all, learning how to take an ordinary day and make it into an extraordinary day. You don't need a helicopter or eight feet of snow to have a good time. We all grew up on the east coast riding in every condition possible, so we learned not to be picky about snow or lack of it. Our Tucks trip in 08' could have been the worst of days, but we pushed through on the hike, ignored the freezing temperatures and driving wind, and ended up getting a few pow turns on the wall of the ravine. I will never forget that day and Im not sure I know anyone in the crew that was with us that day will either. sucks sometimes, but you only live once. If you turn over and hit that snooze button, you lose a dream you had of seeing the sun come up, or getting to the mountain for first chair. My mom always told me "you can sleep in the grave". I never took this seriously until this past summer when Allen Golden and I skimmed past dark, stayed up all night drinking with these people we met on the beach while we played our guitars, went to waffle house at 4 a.m. while the camera charged, filmed a time lapse of the sunrise from the top of laketown Wharf in Panama City Beach, then went and skimmed the best waves I have ever ridden to date. Walking on the beach that morning was a bit surreal for me. It was like we were in a permanent dream state because we were so tired. The high rises looked a bit Eire as the pelicans made a morning flight across the stormy sky. We skimmed all morning as lightning struck the horizon while some m**h head kept walking by saying "im from Cali, ten foot waves bro". We couldn't stop laughing as this dude would walk out with various tubes and floats he had found and would try to fight Poseidon's wrath. We cheered him on but he was no match for the Sea. This winter will be an interesting one because its the first year I won't be on the east coast. Travis and Kerry are already in Tahoe waiting for the camera and myself to arrive. Im not sure what you guys should expect from Snowy Ocean this year but what I can tell you is that whatever we end up doing, we'll be having a damn good time doing it.
