It was a pleasure to plan this family’s first trip to Disney. There’s a lot to think about and learn for any trip, like Genie+, dining reservations, and touring plans. But when a hurricane arrives on the second day of your trip, it throws all your plans into disarray. I couldn’t stop the storm but as their travel agent, I could help them pivot their plans so they could focus on staying safe.

Oh! The places you’ll go!

I was a little worried that our youngest would have less to do and enjoy at Universal.

Have no fear, said the Cat.

From the spinning ride based on our favorite book, to the adorable ride through the Cat In The Hat book, to the Circus McGurkus train and restaurant, to all the beloved characters, our girl kept begging to go back to Seuss Landing.

But that is not all. Oh! That is not all!

🪄One of the reasons this was our first trip to Universal is because our oldest is now tall enough to do all of the rides in The Wizarding World.
🦄And it did not disappoint!
We took advantage of early park admission and walked through the queue for Hagrid’s. Thanks to rider-swap, our son was able to ride it twice. It was exhilarating but most of all, JOYFUL!
🧹🧹🧹
After Hagrid’s we went across to The Three Broomsticks for breakfast and butterbeer. I’m team Hot, my husband is team cold.
🪄There is so much to do in The Wizarding World at both Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure. We tried to spread it out over a few days but the crowds made it difficult to enjoy this area and to do much magic. So I can definitely see this as a reason to come back when it isn’t peak season.

We spent a lot of time in the Jurassic Park area of Islands of Adventure.
🦖Velocicoaster is amazing and completely worth the hype! We took advantage of early admission and the spacious family room and barely waited at all for it! It was intense - so much that one of us cried a little bit and calmed down with some Dino facts in the discovery center before begging to do it again the next day!
🦖We got soaked (and shocked by the drop) on the Jurassic River Adventure.
🌴Our youngest loves the Pteradon Flyers and we all enjoyed the giant playground with lots of places for parents to sit.
🦕This area seemed to have the most shade, too, and we had a lot of fun with the photo ops.
🧬I’m kinda regretting not a Mr. DNA merch…

I just returned from WDW with my best friend. And I savored it. Each little detail, each moment of Magic, even the afternoon rain showers.

Even as I savored what I love about Disney, I welcome change.

That’s a good thing because WDW is about to undergo some big changes.

With Disney Genie, Lightning Lanes, new Annual Pass tiers, new dessert parties, new nighttime spectaculars, new rides, fewer on-site guest perks, no free Magic Bands, and no Magical Express, a trip to Disney is going to be different soon.

We’re halfway to Halloween and after-hour parties are returning. Time to start planning that Fall trip!

Disney announced the "After Hours BOO BASH” which will take place on select nights, Aug. 10-Oct. 31, from 9 p.m. to midnight. The spooktacular festivities will include:
🎃 Halloween-themed cavalcades
🎃 Character sightings throughout the park
🎃 Special performances by the Cadaver Dans
🎃 Treat stops with plenty of candy and so much more!

Woah! This roller coaster looks INTENSE... and awesome!

I know a lot of people cannot imagine traveling by themselves but most of my traveling has been done by myself - business trips, conferences, etc.

I am so here for this change. I remember riding The Jungle Cruise with my grandmother at Disney Land when I was 11 and thinking, even way back then, that the depictions of “natives” were vague and ... off. I’m excited to see a more cohesive story and fewer stereotypes.

Disney’s Riviera Resort has been open for one year. This is Disney’s newest resort and it is beautiful. We visited last week for our departure day and decided that we have to stay here sometime. Our 8 year old kept saying, “This hotel is so fancy! It’s beautiful!” Our 4 year old was in love with every detail outside, the pools, beach, large grassy areas, and of course, the Peter Pan and Tangled murals.

Personally, I could see myself spending an entire morning at Le Petit Cafe and the library next door. That library **swoon**...

Topolino’s Terrace breakfast was hands down our favorite meal of the trip and one of our favorite character meals ever.
