I had the opportunity to shoot stills for an episode of Motel Rescue for the Magnolia Network back in March. The season launched over the summer so I can finally share some of the images. When I was in college in Austin a long long long time ago, I used to pick up jobs as a Production Assistant so while I’ve been on sets before, a lot has changed since the *ahem* 90’s — mostly the introduction of reality tv and the fixer upper! It was incredible to be on set on reveal day to capture what the crew and star were able to accomplish in a short amount of time. Townsend is a treasure trove of a bygone era. It was great to see this family owned motel get some love and design direction!

Happy Thanksgiving! It’s hard to find a photograph that captures the essence of Thanksgiving, but for me, Thanksgiving is generally spent in the kitchen cooking, washing dishes, and making memories with family and friends. This year, my girls were super involved in helping me prepare our meal. We spent two days cooking and watching cheesy Christmas movies. It was great. I hope you had a wonderful holiday with friends and family. I’m grateful for each and every person that invites me to create images for their family or business, I’m grateful for the opportunity to tell your stories through photographs.

Earlier this week I had the opportunity to document a conversation between Brent Bookwalter and Robbie Ventura at Blackberry Farm, they are a pretty big deal in the cycling world, incredibly accomplished athletes. I’m not a cyclist, unless you count time on my peloton or a beach bike. I do workout and strength train with the help of a coach. The conversation reminded me how critical it is to have a coach not only to help you with your physical goals, but the mental goals you have. The mind body connection is intense! The conversation also touched on how training changes and evolves throughout your life, for these guys their career goals shift and evolve and that’s ok! Great to be inspired on a Tuesday. Thank you!

Back in March I did a shoot for Crate and Barrel in Nashville at the home of Jason Arnold. Jason and his home were featured for the way he incorporates pieces from Crate and Barrel with collected pieces and art. Jason and his team were incredibly gracious and patient and a lot of fun to work with! The Crate and Barrel team was also amazing! Having a producer, Jacob Cofer, and stylist, Andy Siharath, on-site was incredibly fun and made for a very seamless shoot. I especially loved Jason’s art collection and talking about the way he guides his clients to build their own collections. Swipe through for some behind the scenes and a team photo. My sister, Angela, went home to be with the Lord on June 4th. Angela, and my late brother, Les, were only eleven months apart and shared a lifelong bond. When they were little they had their own language and unique way of communicating. Angela was always his great teacher and friend. His death hit her especially hard. The Funeral Mass of the Catholic faith tells us that love does not end at death, it just changes. Knowing that Angela is reunited in Heaven with Les and her beloved grandparents brings peace to a devastating and tragic loss. Rest in Peace, sweet Angela. You were greatly loved, and you will be deeply missed. On our way to my parents, we stopped at Les’s grave in San Antonio and said a prayer for Les and Angela, her family, and my dear parents. What a dear friend I have in Bishop Mike. He emailed me and called me after my sister died last week. We were able to meet him for dinner in San Antonio on our way to my parents. I’m so thankful I was able to meet with him. He is a dear family friend and we have shared many many meals together. He married Dan and I and baptized both of the girls. Before dinner, he sat with me and listened to me and comforted me. I did not have a relationship with my sister in recent years but I loved her. Bishop Mike said so simply to “give it to the Lord.” How grateful I am for my Catholic faith in times of joy and sorrow.

For over twenty years, I’ve called myself a photographer. And I’m a pretty good one. But I’m also a lot of other things. A mom, a friend, a catholic, an artist, a connector, a coach, a gardener, a fig farmer, a driver, a wife, the list continues. Today was the best day curating an experience for new and old friends. Experiences and connections matter. I’m always thankful for the opportunity to share in hopes that it shortens the curve for others and brings joy.

Tomorrow is the 59th annual Talahi Plant sale at Lakeshore. From 9-2 you can shop for the most beautiful plants, find treasures from amazing consignors, have the most delicious old fashioned lunch of artichoke spread on squishy bread with a homemade chess bar or symphony bar as a sweet treat, and pick up a baked good from the Sugar Shack for dessert after Sunday lunch. I don’t know what I ever did to be a part of this whole garden club thing but I absolutely love every single thing about it. Community at its very best. I loved being with my people today getting ready for all the fun tomorrow. Please come see us! It’s a great event and the proceeds are used for grants to beautify our city.
