Appreciation post for this beauty… currently stuck in the snow! ❄️

I am trying really hard not to let my anxiety get the most of me. I cried yesterday when another beautiful mountain STR I’m in a local group with caught fire (believed to be from a gas leak from snow weight in the meter.)😢 My full time neighbors and friends (and fellow hosts) are on the struggle bus. It’s breaking my heart and I have been non-stop watching all the IG stories and posts. 💔

Today… I am trying to focus on what I CAN do. What I CAN control. And… acceptance that truthfully there’s not much I CAN do at the moment. ✨

So tonight, I’m imagining myself by the fireplace, walking out to the deck to see the stars and then cozying up in the loft to sleep! 🖤

I love this house. 🖤 And right now I’m worried about her. This photo is from yesterday… and there’s another 2’ now.❄️

Other homes’ roofs are starting to cave in… a house just exploded (from not uncovering vents I’ve heard) and it burned to the ground bc the roads aren’t plowed and emergency services can’t get thru.

Last I heard a total… Lake Arrowhead was at 109” of snow! 😳 We just ordered more shovels so we can go up and start working soon. (Ours are buried UNDER all that snow!)

I’m praying the roads start getting cleared soon so people can get food, supplies, diapers, formula, medicine and well… hope. Love you Lake Arrowhead. 🖤

This beauty is currently covered in about 5 FEET of snow! ❄️ 😳 And while that sounds and looks beautiful, we are thinking of our friends and neighbors in the mountain communities struggling with snow removal, food and gas shortages and plain old anxiety of being completely stuck. And… more snow is coming. 😞

At this moment we aren’t totally sure when we will be able to host again, because we have so much snow to remove and make sure the cabin is okay. And right now it’s most important for the plows, emergency vehicles and locals to be able to get through… not STR guests.

We are thinking of all of you stuck up there and becoming emotionally drained from the stress and work this storm has caused. 🖤✨

It’s been over 30 years since there was a Blizzard Warning in San Bernadino. So I guess it was time. ⚠️ 😳 Already a ton of snow has fallen and more is coming!

These lil water crystals ❄️ are beautiful and fun but you’ve got to be fully prepared if you’re braving the mountain at anytime there’s snow expected!

• 4 wheel drive and Metal Chains
• Shovel, blankets, food, water, flashlight IN the car
• Download the CalTrans App
• Stay put once you get there
• Make sure phones are fully charged
• Have all good & provisions you need
• Firewood if it’s a wood burning fireplace (like ours! 🔥)
• If you’ve never driven on snow… this is not the weather for a novice.

Speaking of snow safety and preparation… we’ve closed down our bookings this weekend because safety comes first.

We searched 8 months to find her. It was worth it. ✨ We made our wish list and this place had it ALL, including my dream chandelier. It felt meant to be.

And now, we spend as much time within her warmth and walls as we can. And when we aren’t there… you can come catch some good vibes too! 🖤

She breathes love and calm within her walls. I promise.

We bought this cabin for our family. As often as we can… we’re up the mountain making memories.✨⛰

Early in, we decided to rent out our A-Frame to other people so they too have an opportunity to find the peace we have.

As I watch other Hospitality Rentals add on to their portfolio or rent out every night I sometimes feel anxious or even… jealous. And then I remember our original intent. US!! Time and space for US (while our kids actually want to hang out with us 😂!)

My ambitions and intent are my own, and yours are yours. And that’s beautiful!

But as I mentioned… we do still share this beauty with others 😉 and we happen to have next weekend open 📆 if you need an escape. 🖤⛰✨
