Check out photos from Hippo Day, and the ladies' last day in the Serengeti:
Day 4
Return to the hippo pool!
A surprise ending to our day out on the Serengeti! Our guides return to the hippo pool. It’s fun to see them again in the light of early evening.
As we make our way back to our vehicles… SURPRISE!!! The staff from our lodge has arranged for a happy hour in the picnic area next to the hippo pool! We enjoy a leisurely hour of fellowship and fun.
Day 5
Serengeti Part 3
It’s hard to believe we’ve already spent three nights at camp and it’s time to leave the Serengeti. There’s so much to learn from everything around us! For example, the dung beetle! The dung beetle rolls animal feces into balls then rolls it with its feet while standing upside down and walking backwards!!! It lays its eggs inside, simultaneously providing the hatchlings a source of food. The dung beetle inspires our new mantra!
“Just roll with it” - Dung Beetle.
Here’s just a sample of a singles day species list!
Baboons ** Elephants ** Giraffes ** Vervet monkey ** Black mamba ** White necked raven ** Wildebeests ** White headed vulture **Ox pecker ** White stork ** Secretary bird ** Thompson gazelle
** Grant’s gazelle ** Dung beetle ** Plover
** Eland ** Kori bustard **Marabou stork
** White back vulture ** Ruppell’s Gryphon vulture ** Impala ** Guinea hen ** Hyena
** Ostrich ** Egret ** Fire finch ** Lilac breasted roller ** Common kestrel
** Lappet faced vulture ** Hartebeest
** Hippos ** Black headed heron ** Topi ** Black backed jackal ** Egyptian coots
** Dikdik
We stop at Olduvai Gorge - the cradle of mankind!!! It’s a 34 mile stretch. The area is rich in the history of early man. It’s known that a shallow lake was once pre

The ladies on our Uganda Safari Tour right now don't mess around! They are busy spotting every animal they can find! Trip leader, Lori Anderson, has given us a rundown of the highlights, check it out:
"Uganda April 29/30 Safari Game drives!
Our first full-day game drive was a fun-filled day! On Tuesday we were in Murchison National Park where the topography is a mix of savannah grasslands and areas with a mix of grassland and palms. We saw a variety of antelope - Waterbuck, Uganda Kob, bushbuck, Jackson’s Hartebeest, and Oribi. There were hundreds and hundreds of them. A few others from our daily mammal sighting list included elephant, giraffe, baboons, patas monkey, and warthogs.
The highlight of the game drive was spotting a leopard! She was napping on a large branch, shifting now and then to change positions.
This sighting means in just a few days we have seen four of the Big 5 - Leopard, Elephant, Cape Buffalo, and Rhinoceros. The fifth one to find is … the lion!!
Luck was on our side! Late in the day we saw a lioness and early Wednesday morning we saw a male lion. That’s all five of the Big 5!!"
What a tour to remember! If Uganda is now on your bucket list (How could it not after an update like this?), get on our waitlist for next year's Women's Uganda Safari happening April 25-May 3, 2025!

Trip leader, Kristen Hoss, has given us an update on our second Women's Baja Snorkel and Gray Whale Tour! Check it out:
"Just left Puerto Lopez Mateos where we found another momma whale with a baby, explored a cormorant rookery (a nesting area) and slid down the soft, warm sands of the dunes that protect this area of the bay. We are now on our way back to La Paz to embark upon our journey to Espiritu Santo Island! Stay tuned.....
OMG....Espiritu Santo is amazing! We stayed in a quaint seaside camp in our own private lagoon and woke up to the sun
blanketing the cliffs as pelicans, blue-footed boobies, yellow-legged gulls, ravens, vultures and red-tailed hawks searched for their breakfast. At night, we watched the big dipper rise from the desert as a myriad of stars appeared in the night sky and bioluminesce illuminated the sea. We snorkeled the colorful coral reefs, learned the local fishes, kayaked in sea caves, played with sea lions, explored plankton-the base of the marine food web and the food of the fin and humpback whales we saw and the whale sharks we are on our way to see, and we learned how we are all connected so we are all affected in this web of life and learned new ways to live our lives to decrease our impacts on this amazing sea!"
We will have one more update from this incredible tour! If you are feeling the FOMO now, consider joining us next year!! Join our email list to be in the loop when we announce 2025 tour dates! https://greenedventures.com/email-signup/
