Wild Turkey's Visitor Center is finally OPEN for tours! We literally bought our house because of the great experience we had at Wild Turkey where we met Jimmy Russell many years ago (2014). We knew we wanted to have an AirBnB close to Wild Turkey because it was sentimental to us, and just an awesome distillery. But guess what, as soon as we bought our house in 2022, they closed for tours and began their visitor center expansion, so that's been a bit of a bummer. However, now, they're open and you can take tours, enjoy a cocktail, and maybe even meet Jimmy Russell. This is only 2.5 miles from our house.

Fun fact: Jimmy's grandparents lived 2 doors down from our house and when we met Jimmy again in 2023, he told us some fond memories of our neighborhood. We'd love to have you stay with us when visiting the Bourbon Trail!

Every time Chris goes to Kentucky, he has a "honey do" list, and this last trip, he put up string lights at the pavilion and at the swings! We are always looking for ways to make your visit with us better, and we love how these solar lights turned out!

OBC Kitchen in Lexington, KY is only 26 miles from our house AND they have delicious Smoked Old Fashioneds! This is a great place to enjoy if you're in the Lexington area!

If only Facebook had scratch and sniff! This is a picture of the outdoor beer well at Buffalo Trace, which is a huge temporary holding tank between the fermenter and the still. Before the fermented mash goes in the still, it goes in the beer well, and it smells amazing!!

Buffalo Trace is only 15 miles from our house, and we always recommend stopping there, even if it's just to visit the gift shop!

When you book with us, we're happy to recommend places to visit while you're in Kentucky. One of your stops should be Expo, a dive bar in Louisville. It may look a little sketchy from the outside (heck, it doesn't even have signage), but trust me, you'll want to stop in for a Lubby (a Mellow Corn Paloma cocktail).

Maker's Mark has some of the most beautiful distillery grounds there is! This is about 1 hour from our house, but you can bundle it with other distilleries during your trip (Limestone Branch, Log Still, Wilderness Trail) and then it won't be out of your way. Bonus: you can dip your own bottle into the red wax for a souvenir!

Distillery cats are definitely a thing in Kentucky! There's something about a welcoming cute furry face that makes you fall in love with the distillery even more. How well do you know your distillery cats? Which distillery is home to this cutie??

If you go to a bourbon bar in Versailles (a neighboring town), and the bartender needs to stand on the bar to grab a bottle, does that mean they have too much bourbon? lol

This was at Amsden Bourbon Bar. One thing unique about their place is they will do 1/2 oz pours of bourbons, so you can try some really expensive stuff and not break the bank! This is about 15 minutes from our House.

This is not the best picture, but it means so much to me!!!

The street that our House is located on is directly off of Main Street in Lawrenceburg, KY. The "downtown" streets of Lawrenceburg did not have any signs to label the streets, and it's always kind of bugged me that our guests didn't have street signs to direct them. Granted, the people that live there just "know" where to go, kind of like how we are in Waterloo, but if you're from out of town, I just felt that street signs would be advantageous.

In October, 2023, I started asking around and talking to people about getting street sigs on the main streets in downtown Lawrenceburg. I talked with the local tourism bureau (who helped me greatly), the City, and the State Highway Department.

When Chris went on this last trip, he sent me this picture and it made me SO happy!! That's the street sign that I've been wanting, and it happened!

I love the feeling of making a (small) difference in Lawrenceburg, and love that our guests can find our street a little easier now!

Chris just got back from a trip to the Bourbon Trail and I always get excited to have new pictures/content to share with you. He sends me this picture, and I ask what significance it has.
He says, "I had the egg salad sandwich at Willett, and this was the bourbon I drank with it".

We loved having this group, but one guest named Chris was super difficult to deal with...just kidding! Chris (my husband) got to go on this trip and had so much fun. This was a group of friends from Idaho and it was Chris' first time meeting some of the guys. As soon as he met them, he knew they'd be BFF's (Bourbon Friends Forever).

“The perfect Bourbon Trail location!”

As a fellow Metro East resident, I have known about Stubborn German and I am a big fan of their place in Waterloo, and have seen several positive posts about their house on the Bourbon Trail and had it on the list to check out if we ever made it down. Well that finally happened this past week and it was the right choice.

I was lucky enough to get The opportunity to do a barrel pick at Buffalo Trace and had to turn it into a quick Trail trip as well. After a little bit of searching for something for my group, I settled on the Stubborn German house to support my fellow local friends and for its setup for the group. It is perfectly centralized on the trail in Lawrenceburg so you can easily get to Bardstown, Frankfort and other surrounding towns.

We had seven guys in our group so we needed plenty of beds without needing to share, and this was the perfect setup for that with the 2 private rooms, one large room with 4 twins and 2 bathrooms. the large room made for some funny stories with all the snoring going on. although it was cool when we were there, we did get to enjoy the outside area a little. The living room is a good size and although our group was a little cramped in there, it worked out well. Love the various bourbon decorations throughout the house.

The hospitality that Chris and Tammy provide is top notch and their recommendations for the area are something to definitely utilize, as they will not steer you wrong. Thanks for being our home base for our trip and can’t wait to share my bottles with you all when they come in!

If you're a homebody like me (Tammy), and you prefer shorter, quicker trips away from home, then the Bourbon Trail is the perfect getaway. It's only 5 hours away from Waterloo, and you can have a lot of FUN in just a few days.

In this picture, I was happy to be home after a weekend visiting distilleries. Don't get me wrong, I had a blast, but a few days away from the kids and the brewery is long enough for me; there's no place like home.

We loved hosting this group! They went on the Bourbon Trail for a bachelor party trip, and here's what Travis had to say:

“Perfect home base for the Bourbon Trail.”

This home was expertly themed for fans of bourbon/ whiskey. It’s perfectly located in the small town of Lawrenceburg with easy access to many distilleries within a short drive. The home comfortably slept our group with two private rooms, one room with 4 twin beds, and a futon couch in the living room. We ate out at a couple local restaurants during our stay. Our group really enjoyed Rolling Oven Taproom (wood fired pizza with a large selection of beer on tap) in Versailles, KY in between our Woodford and Four Roses tours. We also enjoyed using the grill for one of the evenings and only wish it was nicer out so we could have utilized the backyard fire pit. All in all, a great stay with even better owners who were more than happy to provide recommendations to make the most out of your experience.
