Etched with Fire

Etched with Fire Etched with Fire: Solar Pyrography by Jeanie Cox Thank you for your interest and support of my small business! That’s right, it is truly solar-powered artwork.

My artwork is unique in that everything I sell is burned into wood using a magnifying glass and the sun! As you can imagine, this method of wood burning doesn’t achieve as detailed of work as most traditional pyrography, but it requires a very steady hand, lots of patience, and plenty of sunblock! I hope you appreciate the unique style of my artwork as much as I enjoy creating it. Most of my work

is done on pine, cut and sanded by my wonderful husband, Derek. I’m all about trying new things, so if you want me to try using a certain type of wood, apply a stain, or have any other fun ideas, feel free to ask! I’m also willing to burn into something you already own (given it isn't pre-stained or painted wood, or extremely small). Payment (on Facebook, email, or in person)
Payment is due either before I ship your item, or when I give you your item in person. If ordering through Facebook or email I can send you an email invoice via Paypal, where you can pay with your PayPal account, credit, or debit card. If you don’t have a PayPal account you can still make a payment through Paypal using your debit or credit card. Simply follow the directions on the PayPal invoice I will send to your email. If ordering in person I accept personal checks, and cash. For safety reasons I only conduct in-person transactions with customers I already know. Shipping
I am willing to ship within the United States and Internationally. I try to ship within a week of receiving payment for listed items. Custom and personalized items may take longer (see Disclaimers). I will send you an estimate of when your order should be finished, and let you know when your order has been shipped. Please let me know if you have a date you need it by and I will do my best to get your order to you by then. Ask me about gift shipments! If you’re buying a gift for someone, why not have me ship it directly to them? I’ll include a card with a personalized message from you for free. Refunds and Exchanges
I will do everything I can to make sure you are completely happy with your order. If you are unsatisfied with your order, please contact me so we can work it out. Refunds and exchanges will be determined by a case-by-case basis. I am willing to work with you to make sure you walk away with a happy shopping experience overall. I cannot accept returns on custom ordered and personalized items. If you are unhappy with your personalized or custom order, contact me and I’ll do what I can to remedy the situation. Disclaimers
Here are a few disclaimers about my work that you should know about before making a purchase:

1. Because my I create my art using the sun, obviously I can’t work when it’s cloudy. If you would like something custom-made or personalized, please be patient. In general, I try to complete orders within the week (depending on size/complexity of the order); but sometimes mother nature is very unpredictable, especially here in Oregon. I will keep in contact with you as much as possible so you’re up-to-date on how your order is coming along, especially if it is running behind schedule. This also means I have to stop taking custom orders as the season ends. Keep an eye on this page for deadlines on making a custom order before you have to wait until next summer to get it!
2. Knots are a beautiful and natural part of wood. Please understand that it is not economical or eco-friendly (think of the trees!) for me to try to make every piece knot-free. If you REALLY don’t want knots in your custom order I can accommodate you if you specifically request it. Otherwise, please don’t be surprised to find a knot in the wood.
3. Because everyone exhibits art differently, I do not generally provide hardware for mounting or other forms of display. Most pieces come as you see them: unframed and without attachments. For your choice of presentation, inexpensive picture hanging and other display supplies can be purchased at your local department store.
4. Because I make all my pieces by hand, every piece is unique. For this reason, your piece may not look 100% identical to the one featured in the listing photos; But I do my best to make multiples look as close as possible to their listing photo so you have a good idea of what you’re ordering, and hopefully won’t even notice any differences.
5. I reserve the right to display photos of all my work, including regular listings and custom ordered or personalized items. I also reserve the right to create similar designs, and to re-use portions or all of a design, as long as it is not already protected by copyright. This includes custom orders; If I designed it under your specifications, I reserve the right to create a similar design, and/or to reuse a portion or all of that design in other works if I so choose. Keep in mind that the likelihood that I will create another piece identical to your custom order is extremely low (technically it is zero, since no two pieces are exactly the same!).
6. I reserve the right to decline to create a custom piece for any reason. Contact Information

I'll put this bluntly: I have tuition to pay and need whatever money I can make! SO, please support this starving student and allow me make some beautiful, one-of-a-kind artwork for you! PLEASE, let me know if you have any ideas, suggestions, or especially if you would like me to make you something! I was thinking of starting around $10 for an average 4x17 piece (see the gallery), but prices are negotiable.
