Man has fishing been off the charts. The strong winds the last few weeks, especially the east winds brought clean fresh saltwater deep into the marsh. The higher levels have also brought with it speckled trout, white trout, redfish, drum, sheepshead, and some really nice freshwater blue cats. Do have an opening for this Sunday if you’re looking to get in on some awesome fishing. Some dates still available in December. Call today. Got the opportunity to help Capt Calvin Duvalle with Duvalle Cajun Charters’s with one of his regular clients. It was definitely a fun time for all. The first day was a trout fest with both specs and white trout coming over the gunnel rails. The second day was supposed to be a redfish quest, but instead turned into a beautiful trout fest. What a trout fest today. Both specs and white trout. When all these new regulations have you down and can only keep 15 specs per person, well have no fear we have no egos to stroke, we will keep white trout all day and every day. Man has the fishing been on fire as of late, whether you are looking for specs, sheepshead, reds or white trout. Yes I said white trout. Haven’t had the chance to post lately due to some personal issues, but here is the late posts. We have been finding trout in the outside sound areas, white trout in the bigger bays under birds, sheepshead and reds are along structures and rocks. Awesome is all I can say, the maiden voyage of the GatorBay was a total success. We had to work through a lot of small trout, but we were able to put together great boxes of fish both days. The big big Bull Reds were out in full force both days. Had Vincent Boudreaux and his family aboard this past Saturday. They only had a few hours to fish with other plans for the day. No problem, the redfish bite was on fire. We ended the day with 14 reds, 2 sheep’s, 1 5 1/2’ bull shark and a bunch of 17 1/2” reds and 12” trout. It was a fun day for the whole family. Today was a bad day to be a trout. I had Jody and Ross Lafont with me today. They were part of a trip for the Boys Hope Girls Hope foundation. From the first stop to the last we found fish. Must have went through 75-100 12-12.5” trout, but still managed to put together a nice box to go home with. Awesome day with Chris his father and father in law, we left the dock bright and early. Wind was a little stiff so we decided to head south and try for some trout I have been on. Got into a big mess of 12-12.5" trout but did manage to put together a decent mess of 16-19" trout. The wind picked up a bit more so time to beat some shorelines for reds. They were more than happy to facilitate our needs, in no time we ended up boating a nice mess of reds, drum, sheepshead, flounder and trout. Late report, had the pleasure to have Chris Meffonnier and his father and father in law aboard for a little St Bernard adventure. Wind was a little brisk so decided to head south and chase somtrout that I have been finding. Got into a mess of 12-12.5" trout but still put together a nice mix of 16-19" trout. Wind had picked up and it was time to chase some reds, they were more than eager to facilitate our needs. We ended the day with a really nice mix box of fish with trout, reds, flounder, sheepshead and drum. My crew was happy as can be. All fish were caught on Campo's Marina Live Shrimp, FishStyx Tidewater Rods, 4 Horseman Corks and Kastking Sharky 2000 reels. We had the annual Anthon Chiropractic group out today, not a good day to be a redfish or a trout. All boats came in with plenty of fish to make everyone happy. Had a fantastic crew today,started the day off picking away at spec trout. Must have went through 100 12-12 1/2” trout to get 20 17”-20” keepers. Then we went and chased some really nice reds. Old man winter decided to visit yesterday, temps in the lower 50’s at blast off with 20+ mph winds out of the NNE. Had a great family on board celebrating the upcoming wedding for Kent and Claire. It started off slow with extremely dirty water, but once we found them the reds were hungry. Everyone caught some beautiful fish. Finally decided to get back to posting, ran a trip for Josh and his two sons Joe and John. They were an awesome crew started off a little slow but once the tide started moving the bite was on. The boys missed a few fish, but were able to put a really good box together. Spring is definitely in force, found some 12.5 inch trout under birds twice today, too bad it wasn’t October. lol. Josh’s son Joe who is 7 casted out and caught his biggest ever a 32# bull red. Made his day. We’re back on the water for day 2 tomorrow. Fishing is starting to really turn on, get in on the action before it gets too hot temp wise.
