Oh the Animal Kingdom Lodge was such a wonderful experience and place to stay! I wanted to share that amongst the many great places to eat there, one of our favorite “table service” restaurants happens to be a buffet also. It’s called Boma. If you don’t know what “Boma” means, one of the meanings is an enclosed space built for protection, either for animals or humans. If you see the last photo in the line up, that is a “Boma” as well. They actually built that so that in the case of an emergency such as an evacuation of the resort, the humans can go inside that enclosure and be protected from the animals that live on the Savanah’s there. Oh! And speaking of Savanah’s…we went on a night-time tour of the Savanah’s there! It was so dark out so we were given night-vision glasses (think one side of a pair of binoculars) to be able to see all the animals clearly. The tour guide was a pro! Her name was Emily and she said she began her career with Disney as a cast member at Magic Kingdom park through the college program years ago. She said she moved away from that and ended up where she is now as an animal caretaker. She was funny, so detailed in her descriptions of the animals and she was just filled with knowledge. It was so amazing. We did our best to show you some photos of it, but trust me, it was way better in person. My advice: if you can swing it, and everyone in your party is over 8 years old, book a night-time safari tour at Animal Kingdom Lodge Kidani Village. It’s soooo worth it. Those memories are something my boys will never forget.
