Headed on the bus to Denali. You can see Mt. McKinley in the background. Only 30% of the tourist ever see the top due to the fog and clouds but, we were blessed to get to see it. It is breathtaking takingly beautiful but very remote!

Riverboat ride (continued) We saw the home of Susan Butcher’s daughter and she showed us how the dogs were trained for the Iditarod. Susan Butcher and her dog Granite won the Iditarod four times in 1986-88 and in 1990. She was the pioneer for women in sled dog racing. The race was 1150 miles long in rural Alaska. She was also the first woman to summit Mt. McKinley with a dog team. This was in 1979.sadly she died at the age of 51 with leukemia.

I will be adding some pictures to this page, from one of my friends who just got back from Alaska. Her and her Husband went on Princess, they had a wonderful time and the Cruise and Land Package was so well worth it!!
She did advise to get the Meal package on Land tour, because you will spend way more than that on your meals, if you did not purchase the meals Package on Land..
