Have you ever been awestruck from a discovery in nature? Hiking alone one day in Cantwell Cliffs, I wandered into this small cavern. My mind flooded with curiosities of the natural world.

I was pleasantly surprised at the experience, so I snapped a photo to remember.

As you spend time quietly reflecting in nature, you gain a sense of peace that’s hard to describe.

Hocking Hills is an incredible place full of natural landscapes that challenge your senses. It instills in us an appreciation for the beautiful planet we live on and the intricacies of life.

It's always a treat to see owls out and about 🦉This short-eared owl at Ohio Division of Wildlife's Magee Marsh is partly diurnal, meaning they're active during daylight. They prefer open habitats, such as large fields, grasslands and marshes.

Hocking Hills is a place for kids to be inspired of the natural world.. but Barbie must come along! 😂

Here’s a of the first time we discovered this enchanting place. We live just a few hours away and had never heard about it. This place did not disappoint!

We loved it so much it became a yearly thing for our little family! We hope you have the same joy when you stay at our rental and enjoy this hidden gem 💎 tucked away in Ohio!

🍁 Did you ever learn the reason the colors reveal themselves in fall?

We got you 😉

Bright yellow to orange colors are underneath the entire time! The leaves change because the green pigment wears off revealing it’s beautiful complexion under the mask. In addition, these leaves can mix with other chemicals to turn red and purple.

The green is known as chlorophyll, and it’s a little factory of cells that help generate food for the tree by turning sunlight energy into sugar and carbs. Yep! Even trees like the good stuff 😜

As the season changes, the cold, short days spark a change in the chlorophyll (green pigment) and it fades away. At the same time, surging sugar concentrations cause increased production of anthocyanin (red and purple pigments).

Pretty cool huh? Now you can have more appreciation for the fall splendor!
