Lorain's caboose was recently mentioned in the Ohio Railroad Enthusiasts Facebook group. Thank you Todd Wolf and George Siss III. The caboose was donated by CSX Transportation to the Lorain Growth Corp. Tourism Committee and is being restored by its Caboose Crew. The caboose was moved from Lester, Ohio in the Spring of 2019. First to near the steel mill, the to 14th Street, It was moved, August 17, 2019, to its current location behind the Palace Theater at Black River Landing. It will remain there until the exterior is completed, It will the be pushed to behind the flag poles near the Black River Transportation Center (the train station).

Please go to https://loraincaboose.org to see photos of the move and more. Although any physical work is on hold right now, there is still a lot happening behind the scenes. Keep up with the news at the caboose page and website.

Thank you for your interest.

TODAY, November 3rd is TRAINing DAY, a FREE event sponsored by the North Coast Division of the National Model Railroad Association in honor of National Model Railroading Month. We hold this event to introduce or maybe reintroduce the hobby of Model Railroading and show people how we do what we do. This event is for all ages and skill levels.

The FREE event has many activities including many opportunities to win door prizes and a make it take it area where you could build ca kits, buildings, and scenery items and take them home with you. We will have a scout counselor on site for Boy Scouts who want to learn how to or actually work on their Railroad Merit Badge.

Do you think you can be an engineer? Come and test your skills on a switching challenge provided by The Cuyahoga Valley and Westshore Model Railroad Club.

Our award winning Modular group, The Cleveland Sandusky & Southern Railway, will be operating trains during the event.

The Lorain Tourism group is restoring a caboose on the property which will be open to look in. Anyone who attends TRAINing DAY can register to look in the caboose and be registered to win a starter train set provided by Bachmann Model Trains.

So many activities! We hope you can join us!

Division 4 TRAINing DAY is
