It’s Tu B’Shevat, the traditional date that marks the beginning of a “New Year for Trees.” 🌳 Tu B’Shevat is associated with the start of spring in Israel (since the earliest-blooming trees begin a new fruit-bearing cycle). The rainy and cold season ends when the blossoms of almond trees first begin to appear. 🌸

God gave Jeremiah a lesson from this tree and we can also remember that sometimes we see a word from the lord blossom but it takes a while to bear fruit.

Jeremiah 1:11 - 12

“The word of the Lord came to me: “What do you see, Jeremiah?” “I see the branch of an almond tree,” I replied. The Lord said to me, “You have seen correctly, for I am watching to see that my word is fulfilled.”

The Bible’s allusion that human life is “like the tree of the field,” Deuteronomy 20:19 led many people to observe Tu B’Shevat as time to assess man’s place within creation. Since God created the world for a habitation some have pictured the world itself as a “great tree”. Yeshua often used such agricultural images in his parables. Yeshua regarded the world as a “field” for planting with different “types of soil” (Matthew 13:38 - 43) and warned of the “great harvest” of souls at the end of the age. He pointed to signs from a fig tree to indicate the nearness of the prophesied End of Days.

The book of Jeremiah is a reminder to be like a tree planted by the water which is a representation of the Holy Sprit.

Jeremiah 17:7–8
“Blessed is the one who trusts in the LORD, whose confidence is in him.  They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream.  It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green.  It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.”

Finally, in 1948 the State of Israel miraculously came to pass, and one of the first things the settlers did when they came back to their land was to plant trees . Tu B’Shevat therefore resembles an “Israeli Arbor Day” when trees are planted and the rebirth of the Jewish homeland is celebrated.  🇮🇱

The Bible says that God created to the world and everything in it for six days and then on the seventh day he rested, he blessed this day and set it apart from all other days. Work and rest are a bride and groom who come together to make a full, well-rounded life. God rested and so should we.

Sabbath Day is made for..
1. looking at creation
2. Remembering our Deliverance
3. Preparing for the coming kingdom

Eden was a sabbath, work came after the fall.
When we learn to rest and take a sabbath we are preparing ourselves for the world to come

Shabbat Shalom!

TESTIMONY TIME

"This trip brought the Word alive for me in a whole new way. It opened my eyes to the reality of the Bible and all I believe. I will now read the Bible in a whole new way, with a whole new insight that I didn’t have before. It also really helped me digest and understand parts of the Bible I didn’t know or fully understand before." Jessica Wilmot (U.K.)

T E S T I M O N Y

"It was so useful to understand that Jesus was a Jew, and getting to experience Shabbat Dinners and meeting Israelis helped with that. Going to the Garden tomb was probably the most significant event I have had in my Christian faith, singing in the Garden just made me realize that God is enough. I definitely encourage more Christian's to go on a journey to Israel as its an opportunity for your faith to grow" - Toby Lewis Thomas (U.K.

"Deep calls to deep at the roar of your waterfalls; all your breakers and your waves have gone over me." Psalm 42: 7-11

Israel's largest waterfall in the Banias Nature Reserve is located at the foot of the Hermon Mountain, in the northern part of the Israeli Golan Heights. The Banias Waterfall flows into the Banias Stream, one of three rivers that feed into the Jordan River. It is in this area that is filled with so much beauty that many pagan God's were worshiped - most notably the deity 'Pan' where were get the word 'Pandemic' or 'Panorama' - and so fitting that it was here that Jesus decided to declare 'on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it." Matthew 16:18

The word Torah means “instruction”—The Torah, the central Jewish scripture, provides Judaism with its history, theology, and a framework for ethics and practice. Torah technically refers to the first five books of the Hebrew Bible (Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy).
Understanding the Jewish heritage of the Christian faith gives depth and a firm foundation to build on.

Tel Aviv was founded on April 11, 1909. On that day, several dozen families gathered on the sand dunes on the beach outside Yafo to allocate plots of land for a new neighborhood they called Ahuzat Bayit, later known as Tel Aviv. As the families could not decide how to allocate the land, they held a lottery to ensure a fair division.

Akiva Arieh Weiss, chairman of the lottery committee and one of the prominent figures in the city’s founding, gathered 66 grey seashells and 66 white seashells. Weiss wrote the names of the participants on the white shells and the plot numbers on the grey shells. He paired a white and grey shell, assigning each family a plot, and thus Tel Aviv’s founding families began building the first modern, Hebrew city.

5 Fun Facts about Tel Aviv

1) The White City of Tel Aviv is the world’s largest collection of International or Bauhaus-style buildings and is one of the first ‘modern’ UNESCO World Heritage Sites in the world.

2) Home to over 6,000 startups, Tel Aviv earned its recognition as the most innovative city in the world. Nicknamed Silicon Wadi (wadi meaning valley in Arabic).

3) Tel Aviv is also a city of sushi lovers and is home to the world's third-most sushi restaurants per capita, behind only Tokyo and New York. There are more than 100 sushi restaurants in the city from which to choose.

4) In the 2020 World Happiness Report, which for the first time focused on cities, Tel Aviv was ranked the eighth happiest city worldwide.

5) Tel Aviv is home to 25,000 registered dogs, and a human population of just over 400,000. In other words, Tel Aviv has one of the highest dog-to-human ratios in the world!

Thank you for sharing your testimony about your recent trip to Israel with Havah!

“I have read the Bible cover to cover many times, so I have always believed Israel was really important for God’s purposes on the earth. I didn’t realize how many things still need to take place in Israel before Jesus returns. A lot of verses and Scriptures make a lot more sense now. I also didn’t know the nuances of what was happening between Israel and Palestine. Being on the ground helped me begin to wrap my head around what was happening there and again emphasized the importance of supporting Israel as a nation.

I learned how to operate on a new level of spiritual authority on this trip. It’s difficult to explain, but I feel like God pushed me to level up, pray more boldly, and step out in faith in greater ways. All my physical limits were pushed on this trip and God showed me that He is the one that sustains me, not the things of the world. I feel closer to the Lord after this trip. I also feel like God has taught me to see the Spirit in new ways.

I am forever changed by this trip and so is my relationship with God. I feel like I know God better. I also understand that it’s such a privilege to be a Gentile grafted into the olive tree of God’s people, God’s nation. What a joy to share in the blessings of his nation."

We are in the Jewish month of 'Elul'. In Hebrew the word is an acronym for the verse “I am my beloved and my beloved is mine”(Song of Solomon 6:3)

The Bible and the Jewish tradition alludes to it being the month of preparation and repentance & the Month of Mercy before the Jewish new year. It’s the month when Moses ascended to Mount Sinai to receive the second set of tablets of the covenant (After Israel sinned with the first ones) which shows Gods great mercy towards his people. It’s the month when Gods word in Haggai came to the returned exiles from Babylon to start building Gods house.

Elul is a reminder that the King is in our field today.. how are we going to respond? Are we going to let him in? This month is a good time to make space for God in our life and prepare for the next season to come.

Simon Sebag Montefiore

Have you been to Israel before? How was your experience. Here is a testimony from who came on a trip to Israel last year ...

“I have left this pilgrimage utterly changed. I will never read scripture the same way again. By seeing the land and places where the Old Testament unfolded with my own eyes has unlocked what feels like a concrete reality. The history of the Jewish people and the heritage of Yeshua is rooted in immutable truth.”

A boat ride on the sea of Galilee is an unforgettable memory - mostly for the disciples of Jesus.

In the gospels we read that the panicked disciples were in the middle of a raging storm and fought to keep the boat afloat. They tried to wake Jesus who was asleep on the boat saying, “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?” (Mark 4:38). As the boat started to fill with water they said, “Master, Master, we are going to drown!” (Luke 8:24).
Jesus rebuked the wind and the sea and in doing so addressed the hidden spiritual reality behind the revealed physical world. In Jewish cosmology, the spiritual world animates the physical world. The story suggests that spiritual forces were at work, resisting Jesus’s attempt to cross out of Jewish territory and enter their territory.
At Jesus’s rebuke, the waters fled; at the sound of His voice, they hurried back. As the waves flattened out into quiet ripples, Jesus turned to the disciples and asked, “Why are you so afraid? Have you still no faith?" (Mark 4:40)
The disciples did have faith, but the rabbi from Galilee significantly stretched it.“They became very much afraid and said to one another, ‘Who then is this, that even the wind and the sea obey Him?’” (Mark 4:41).
