It is with extreme sadness that we say "goodbye" to an amazing human being, a wonderful friend and the heart & visionary of Bella Guatemala Travel, our dearest Elsie YiDonoy. Elsie was such a loyal, loving, inspiring and passionate person...with an unwavering dedication to the people and things that she loved most in life. She touched the lives of so many with her kindness, generosity and companionship...and she will forever remain in our hearts. Her legacy is cemented and her memory will be permanently honored and cherished. Our most sincere condolences to her family and to her loved ones. 💔
Thank you for being such a special part of our lives...we will miss you tremendously, and will embrace and carry your loving memory with us each and every day.

Volcán Chicabal - Guatemala

A brand new tour for Adventure lovers is coming in 2024! 🇬🇹 This is the sacred lake of Volcán Chicabal, located in the remote highlands of Quetzaltenango, Guatemala. This volcanic crater lake, now resting in its permanent dormancy at 8,920 feet elevation, is where the Mam Maya Shaman come to make their offerings of flowers and stage traditional altars with fire and incense (burning copal), communicating with spirits and performing sacred rituals…also to ask for blessings of successful crops and rain, for better health, etc. A hike up to the crater from the base of Chicabal takes around 2 hours. One can also arrive by 4WD truck escort to the top through a dense, mystical cloud forest. It is a tremendously fascinating site, and one of the least visited due to its remote location and the sacred nature of the volcano which has suspended this magical lake in a beautiful extension of peacefulness, honored tradition and timeless wonder.
