It's still a wonder how this was 4 years ago 😲

I remember thinking that it would only take a couple of weeks to get this house ready, when in reality we lived & worked here for 6 months to get it perfect & guest ready 🫢

It was a crazy, wonderful, wild 6 months, and I'm so grateful for everything we did to get us started on this journey!

Cheers to 4 years down and many more to come 🍾

How to beat the heat this summer in Shenandoah National Park 🌞

💦 Get up early to go hike! Beat the crowds and the heat, plus maybe get some stunning sunrise shots
💧 Find a local watering hole! We love to recommend the local pool in Stanley, Lake Arrowhead, or even Yogi Bear's waterpark for a day pass!
🛟 Get in the river! Tube down Shenandoah River and enjoy some rapids, mountain views, and the cool water
📣 The Luray Caverns is always the same mid-60's temperature year round! It's a great mid-day activities for when the temperatures spike

Even with the heat we've been dealing with, there's plenty of ways to still get outside and enjoy!

The number of hiking trails and views seems literally endless in Shenandoah 🥰 but here are some of our favorites! 🥾Little Stoney Man Loop 3.3 miles, 807 ft. elevation 35 minutes from Hillside House Classic, rocky views and lots of parking. Plus right near the resort in the park that has a little restaurant and gift shop for afterwards! 🥾Old Rag Mountain Loop 9.5 miles, 2,683 ft elevation 42 miles from Hillside House Iconic Shenandoah National Park Hike. Requires some rock scrambling, but also amazing views and quite a workout! Permit required! 🥾Sugarloaf Loop 4.5 miles, 915 ft. elevation 33 minutes from Hillside House Great trail, great views right from the start! 🥾White Oak Canyon and Cedar Run Trail Loop 9 miles 2,372 ft. elevation 54 minutes from Hillside House Great hike with lots of waterfalls and swimming holes. Enjoy their walking paths and of course a glass of their great vino is never a bad option! ⛱️Lake Arrowhead Just outside of town, this stunning lake has a great beach for sand castles and beautiful mountain views! Kayaks and Canoes are available to rent, along with lots of other activities like volleyball, basketball, horseshoe pit, picnic shelters and hiking! 📷Go See the Luray Caverns Go on a cave exploring adventure with lots of crazy views!
