Sure signs of spring: the first robins appear, the maple sugarbush starts to flow and the moguls on Hari Kari are soft and playful. We are in the midst of a gorgeous spring break week with warm sunny days and a light freeze each night to keep the slopes fast and smooth. There is a chance of snow on the weekend and then cooler all of next week which locks in our daily season through April 7. While there is plenty of snow, there is not much time. Make your spring ski plans today.

The past two weeks gave us a preview of our spring season with highs in the mid 30’s and lows just below freezing each night. Powder days get all the hype, but a sun softened surface on a firm base is the ultimate ski surface, allowing novice and experts alike to express every dollar of R&D that goes into a ski with fresh tracks on the day’s perfect corduroy.

We return to midwinter conditions this weekend and will resume snowmaking for a week or two, stockpiling to guarantee skiing into mid-April. While it may not feel like winter at home, conditions on the mountain have been exceptional. Come find your winter at Lutsen Mountains!

It's a sad day in Lutsen. burned down early this morning. This resort was on the shores of lake superior and does not affect the ski resort.

The fire at the North Shore landmark was reported just after midnight. The operators of the lodge say it is a total loss.
