You'll drive right by Cross River on your way to Lutsen, stop! It's one of the few waterfalls you can see from the road. Take a few minutes to drive down to the lake to see Father Baraga's cross while you're there, you can't see it from 61 but the road to it is marked.

As you travel along Highway 61 on Minnesota's North Shore, you'll drive right over Cross River Falls. Stop and take a peek - it's beautiful!

With 100 inches of snow to melt, this waterfall season is going to be epic! Temperance river's amazing waterfalls and Cascade river's falls are within 10 minutes of our home at 4 Lodge Lane. If you've never done the north shore waterfall tour, this is the year to do it!

This road trip covers 110 miles of the North Shore, visiting both popular and lesser known waterfalls. It is a beautiful spring trip!

We've done this hike, it's not for the faint of heart but the view is amazing. If you don't want to attempt the hike, there's also a paved parking overlook that everyone can enjoy. Continue a little further to Grand Portage visitor center at the border with Canada and take the short, easy hike to see the highest waterfall in the Minnesota.

This incredible overlook includes views of Lake Superior and the 13 Susie Islands. On clear days, you can even see Isle Royale!

Our 4 Lodge Lane guests often ask us where to hike, well Moose Mountain is the nearest, 1 mile away. We like the view from the top so much, we got married on the observation deck.

While the sheer height of many peaks and lookouts in Minnesota aren't too impressive, the views are definitely worth hiking for.

We highly recommend our Lutsen guests take a 20 minute drive from our home at 4 Lodge Lane to charming Grand Marais. Some of our favorite restaurants are there and Sydney's Custard is a must in the warmer months.

This town in northern Minnesota is full of natural beauty, places to visit, and things to do. It's no wonder people here are so friendly!

North Shore perfection!

The VRBO description is accurate - this is Lutsen's cutest vacation home! Our family of five (mom, dad, two kids & grandma) enjoyed a very comfortable 4 night stay 12/28-1/1. We were supposed to have arrived a day earlier but Mother Nature had other plans. Jo was fantastic to work with as she managed the logistics of departing guests, the cleaners & our family's arrival...whose plans were all thrown for a bit of a loop with a North Shore blizzard! Upon arrival, the instructions to enter the house/garage were very clear. Inside the home, we were pleasantly surprised to discover it was decorated for winter/Xmas. Such a nice touch! The cabin surpassed our expectations - it is very well stocked with basic pantry items, pots & pans, paper goods, towels, extra blankets, etc. We also appreciated that there were signs posted throughout the home instructing you how to use things (TVs, fireplace, whirlpool, heaters, etc). Very helpful! Our only complaint was that it was too cold to enjoy the welcoming porch. I guess we will just have to come back! Thank you, Jo & Bob for sharing your gem of a home on the North Shore!

"Wonderful Lutsen Cabin"

My family and I had a great stay here during our Lutsen vacation. Very nice cabin with all the amenities, the kitchen is stocked with everything you need. We loved the deck and screened-in porch. Great fire pit in a perfect location. One of the nicest, well kept VRBO cabins we have ever stayed in. Host is quick to respond to any questions we had, and there was clear directions posted in the cabin for items like the TV, fireplace, and coffee maker. Highly recommended!

"Great Getaway"

This vacation home was a great choice for me and my sisters on a trip to the MN north shore. Jo was an excellent hostess and provided a level of detail I have never had before in the many houses I have rented. The house was exactly as described. Beds were comfy. We enjoyed the fireplace and the porches which provided great places for quiet coffee mornings and cocktails in the evening. We love to cook and the kitchen was very well stocked; we had everything we needed. I would definitely recommend this rental and consider a return visit.

"Fabulous!

Everything about our stay was fabulous! The home was in perfect condition with all the accessories you could need from a grill, fire pit, fully stocked kitchen equipment and utensils, fans, towels, and more! The location was perfect for Lutsen Mountains and all of the surrounding hikes we went on (and the winery next door with live music was a major bonus on a beautiful fall afternoon!). The General Store in Tofte fit our grocery needs perfectly and we were able to cook at home every night and enjoy nice dinners at the dining table. Jo was superb with communications and information. We were so grateful for our chance to get away to "Solitude" for a long weekend, and we will definitely be back!"
