November 15th, on the lake shore of property Pointavu, we were treated to the stunning last supermoon of 2024, alongside the enchanting sight of Venus before it disappeared below the horizon. Did you get to see them?
If not, don’t worry! We will share more stellar views every week leading up to the Dark Sky Festival in Cook County on December 12-14, 2024.

What’s next on the celestial agenda? SATURN! 🪐

After 6:45pm (from Cook County), you can find Saturn in the constellation of Aquarius. Look in the South, South-East direction over Lake Superior, where it sits above the horizon before setting in the West around midnight. Saturn shines bright making it easy to see with your naked eye under dark skies. If the night is clear with minimal light pollution, don’t miss the chance to see it!

Oh Ole Night
Grand Marais, November 29

Join the excitement in downtown Grand Marais on the day after Thanksgiving for the beloved holiday celebration, Oh Ole Night! This annual festival embraces the area’s rich Scandinavian heritage. Featuring “Sven and Ole” humor and family-friendly festivities that have become a cherished tradition along Minnesota’s North Shore.

Kicking off the festive season, downtown Grand Marais transforms into a holiday wonderland. Drawing families and visitors alike to shop, celebrate, and make memories. The day begins with holiday sales at local shops, where you can pick up unique North Shore gifts and seasonal treasures.

The Oh Ole Night parade—the event’s highlight—starts at 5:30 pm, departing from the Co-Op/Stone Harbor parking lot. The parade route winds through Broadway, Wisconsin Street, and 1st Avenue. After the parade, gather with the community at Harbor Park for the lighting of Grand Marais’ iconic Christmas Tree. This magical moment is followed by a spectacular fireworks display over Grand Marais Harbor.
