Hello from Love Ridge! Our July Newsletter is Here!! Summer has begun, and with the kids out of school, we've been thrilled to be up at Love Ridge for much of July. During the heat dome, we were grateful for the cooler temps on the mountain, and now that the heat has broken, mornings have even been cool enough for a sweatshirt!

In the warm afternoons, we've been cooling off at Sherando Lake, in the Tye River or at Lake Monocan—all just a few minutes away from our Virginia cabin rentals. We have prepared a guide for refreshing water activities during the day that you can try! The Perseids meteor shower is on, so it is a great time to stay up late to enjoy nighttime stargazing at Love Ridge!

We're hosting our first-ever women's mountain biking clinic in cooperation with the Charlottesville Area Mountain Bike Club and Blue Wheel Bicycles. There was so much demand that the clinic sold out in one day. Keep your eye out for some pictures from that event coming in September and more great biking events this fall at Love Ridge.

Did you know we are very close to several WILDERNESS AREAS?

Saint Mary’s Wilderness: Encompasses 10,000 acres west of the Blue Ridge Parkway. All levels of hiking experiences. The Saint Mary’s Fall Trail is unequivocally gorgeous, commensurately popular, and perfect for summer swimming.

The Priest Wilderness: Approximately 6,000 acres located east of the Blue Ridge Parkway. The 5.7-mile trail has very rugged terrain and contains large rock outcroppings.

Three Ridges Wilderness is approximately 4,600 acres located east of the Blue Ridge Parkway. The 11-mile trail is steep and rugged, offering elevations from 1000 to 4000 feet.

The Love Gap access to the Appalachian is lightly trafficked versus the access at Reed’s Gap, which is increasingly popular. Bee Mountain is an excellent destination for a shorter hike (4.2 miles). Three Ridges Wilderness Area and Hanging Rock from Love Gap (MP 16). Those who continue past Bee Mountain will be rewarded at Hanging Rock with spectacular Blue Ridge Mountain views overlooking the Rockfish Valley. Large flat rock surfaces for picnicking

Discover this 4.2-mile out-and-back trail near Tyro, Virginia. Generally considered a moderately challenging route, it takes an average of 1 h 56 min to complete. This trail is great for hiking, and it's unlikely you'll encounter many other people while exploring. The best times to visit this trail are April through November.
