Here’s why even 1 minute of yoga or stretching can make a big difference for supporting your wellbeing.
Link in the bio, or drop me a message if you’d like to join in my yoga class or programs. (The Restore on Demand program is coming soon! 😁)
Here’s a little balance fun for you, as I prepare for the big day tomorrow - my Restore program opens up for registration! 😁 Restore incorporates Yoga, Qi Gong, Corrective Exercise and more over the course of three weeks to:
• Relieve stress
• Enhance your energy level
• Improve your balance
• Boost your mind/body wellness
• Bring the benefits of mindfulness & movement into your daily life
Restore is a three week deep dive into mind/body wellness.
I’m getting ready to open three spaces for Bold Coast Yoga’s individually paced 200 and 300 hour YTTs, which are completely online this year. 😊
One of the biggest advantages to practicing online is the ability to take classes anywhere, including under an apple tree! 🌳
Students have also mentioned having a pause button as a game changer.
If you are interested in a YTT, (Yoga Teacher Training) drop my a DM and I’ll make sure I let you know when the spaces open.
P.S. If you turn the sound on, you’ll hear the busy bees buzzing in the apple tree. 🐝
Here’s a quick wrist supporting movement to help encourage space in the carpal tunnel. 😊 Try it when you need a break from typing, and let me know what you think!
Gentle shoulder stretch
If you’re working at the computer, pause and try this simple movement: slide your shoulder blades down your back, tuck your elbows close to your ribs, bend your elbows at 90 degrees, turn your palms up to face the ceiling, and open and close the arms.
This helps support the shoulders by counteracting the internal rotation typing often triggers.
Biceps curls in a mystery yoga pose
Want to guess which yoga pose this is happening in? 😊 I’ll post the answer tomorrow.
Yoga is phenomenal for many things, but it is missing some pulling motions (we do more pushing motions in yoga.).
Flying pigeon play! 🐦 Here’s a short video for one way to enter this fun and funky shape.
Sending gratitude to all who helped make the mini-classes and 300 hour YTT this weekend a success. That would be my Mom and Kyle for extra help with the kiddos, and to all of the amazing people who came to the classes. I appreciate you, and am honored to be part of your yoga practice! ❤️
If you missed the classes, search for the Facebook group Bold Coast Yoga Free Trainings and Classes and ask to join; all 3 replays are there. 😊
Hope you all have a great weekend; stay warm and be well. 🙏
Mindfulness and movement are powerful on their own, but together they can:
🧠 Literally rewire the brain
🍃 Support healthy new habits
🏃♀️ Improve physical wellness
🧘♀️ Quiet the mind
⚕️Support overall health
and more!
Yet many of us tend toward one or the other; we have a regular mindfulness or meditation practice, but exercise is hit or miss, or we always make room for yoga or a workout, but a mindfulness practice just isn’t as high of a priority. Or we start both but can’t maintain a regular practice, because, well, life. 🤷♀️
No judgment here; I’ve been there. Figuring out how to make it work for me helped me to help my clients go from surviving to thriving. We work together to figure out which movements and practices are best for them, and how to make it work with busy lives. And I’m so excited to offer my tips, tricks, and program designs in the Thrive in Five, next month! 😁
Which one do you prioritize higher; movement or mindfulness? 🧐
The classic, 4 pose “Vinyasa Flow.” 😊 However, if you’re new to yoga; this might be more than you feel ready for.
I’ll share my favorite modifications (to make it easier) and variations (to make it harder) tomorrow.
What do you think of the “Vinyasa Flow?” Do you like to add more challenge, or make easier?
Turn your volume down if you click on this!!! For those of you who were asking what Tai Chi looks like, here’s a clip from the sequence I’m teaching in class. 😊
But seriously, if you click on it, turn your volume down, my phone was near a cooler (I’m at Machias Marketplace here) so the background noise is very loud.
Ready for a class? Mondays at 4:30 at Machias Marketplace, Thursdays at 4:30 at CCLC, or Fridays in Eastport resume March 16 at 11. No experience necessary! 😊
More #snowga from Maine! Working on rolling up and down, which is quite different with boots on; and a great opportunity to let go of your expectations and just experience the asana. I love inversions in the snow- a nice soft place to land if you miss your mark! #headstand #yogamom #igersmaine #yoga #inversionaddict #boldcoastyoga
Yoga in the snow is well worth the extra effort to put on your long johns and boots. The soft sound of the falling #snow gently draws your attention into the moment, quieting thoughts, and inviting you to become fully present. ❤️🙏 #snowga #yoga #mindfulness #boldcoastyoga #yogamom #snowfall #maineyoga #maine #winterfun
