I opened my shop not too long ago because I wanted a way to express my creativity that was not bound by the demands of my day job. (I work at a game design studio, can't make yoga bags there :P )
I'm focusing my creative efforts on making a coherent yoga collection, which includes yoga bags and ZEN jewelry. This feeling of wholeness is something that I am constantly trying to portray at Sunshine
and Zen. I pick my fabrics and beads to represent a creative passion that everyone has. I try to portray a certain feeling with each piece, the yoga bags may relate to a specific chakra energy or even a lotus flower. I continue to practice yoga regularly in my own life and I see progress every day. This progress has really helped me with seasonal depression, my focus and my overall well being. Working on Sunshine and Zen is not just a job for me, it's a passion. And I would, without a doubt, use every single item that I make (the zebra yoga bag is my go to for my practice!). Knitting is almost meditative for me. I knit at work on my lunch brake, after work while we watch the discovery channel. I always tend to pick yarn that is interesting to me, bright colors and stripped yarn are my absolute favorite! Watching the piece come together slowly and not knowing exactly what the yarn will do is really exciting,
As my little shop grows I am learning new ways to create and better myself through the process. I recently released a Chakra Holiday Collection that I am absolutely in LOVE with. The research that went into making this collection has made me into a better person inside and out. Learning about the different chakras really puts life into focus. I know some people don't believe in energy forces, but if you really think about it the meaning is more than that. They teach you to love yourself. To really, TRULY love yourself. To love every part of yourself is one of the hardest things anyone can do. They teach you about kindness and compassion, about intelligence, about the earth that we live on. They teach you to not take advantage of the little things. The Sunshine that we crave is the energy life force of this planet, and the rain drops that we are all sad about are what makes life grow. Everything has a meaning and a purpose. If I could just spread that message I would be content. LOVE is one of the most important unifying forces on this earth. Embrace it! I hope that you enjoy my shop. I pour my heart into this little adventure and I wouldn't have it any other way. If you have any special request please do not hesitate to ask!
