Local parks have nice ponds for steamboats.
Enough space for Rv’s no hookups but generators are ok. Plenty of hotels within ten minutes.

Why in the world does insist on leaving my packages on top of the trash cans next to the road?? I’ve asked them for the whole time I’ve lived here to put them by my door. Every other delivery service leaves packages by my door. Can’t get a juman on the phone either.

"150th Kentucky Derby
The Kentucky Derby will take place at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky, tomorrow, marking the 150th "Run for the Roses." The race carries a record purse this year of $5M—$2M more than last year—with tomorrow's winner taking home $3.1M. The runner-up will receive $1M and third-place $500K. Coverage begins at 2:30 pm ET on NBC, with Derby post time at 6:57 pm ET.
The oldest continuous sporting event in America, the Derby features 3-year-old thoroughbred horses born in the Northern Hemisphere racing a 1.25-mile track. This year's top contenders include Fierceness (5-2 odds as of this writing), who is coming off a win at the Florida Derby, and Sierra Leone (3-1), both hailing from Kentucky. However, the race is known for upsets: A favorite hasn't won since 2018, and Rich Strike won in 2022 with 80-1 odds. (How are odds calculated?)
The Derby serves as the first leg in horse racing's Triple Crown series. Preceding the Derby this evening is the Kentucky Oaks (5:51 pm ET), showcasing 3-year-old fillies or young female horses. See Derby predictions here."

We just got to the bottom of the mountain riding the Mt Washington Cog Railroad and they are announcing it is blizzard conditions- nobody should leave. Please start praying for us to safely return to the hotel.

It's that time of year again! Get excited for one of our favorite traditions- Downtown Window Painting hosted by The Woman's Club of Madisonville! Kids will have the opportunity to showcase their creativity by painting Halloween and fall-themed scenes on local business windows. It's truly a sight to see!
Registration: Oct. 19 & 20 | 1 PM - 5 PM (behind the Historic Courthouse)
Judging will take place on October 21st at 3 PM!

In just a few short weeks, our Hopkins County High Schools will bring Seussical the Musical to the Glema Center stage! Performances are Friday, April 21 at 7pm & Saturday, April 22 at 2pm & 7pm. One of the most performed shows in America, Seussical is a fantastical, magical, musical extravaganza! Tony winners Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty have lovingly brought to life all of our favorite Dr. Seuss characters, including Horton the Elephant, The Cat in the Hat, Gertrude McFuzz, Lazy Mayzie and Jojo, a little boy with a big imagination. The colorful characters transport us from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus to the invisible world of the Whos. Produced by special arrangement with Music Theatre International.
