It’s something we see time and again — a company or individual camper van owner doesn’t value their guests’ time, money or experience, and throws them for a major loop without taking any responsibility. We are grateful to be able to help those guests… AND don’t want you to have to deal with last minute shenanigans that can add unnecessary stress.

Here are three questions to ask when looking for a camper van rental here on Maui:

1. Are they a reputable company with good online reviews?
As a small business, online reviews are so helpful! Reading through reviews on Google or Outdoorsy can be super clarifying when deciding if the rental company seems legit + understanding how others’ past experiences have been.

2. Are their vehicles professionally maintained on a regular basis?
We’ll be honest, rental vehicles are tough — companies rely a lot on guests’ feedback if something is not running right. But it’s also the rental company’s responsibility to do regular maintenance and ensure things are functioning safely in between bookings.

3. Do they communicate well?
This is a big (+ important) one! Are you receiving emails or other communication back from the company from which you are looking to rent? If they are not replying to your questions or inquiries, they might not be available if something goes wrong during your trip or you have important questions leading up to it so you can be prepared for your travels.

It’s no secret that it’s been a slow season here on Maui since the fires, but we’re so grateful for our guests who continue to come and respectfully explore our beautiful island 🌺

Our community is hurting right now and, while we need time + space to heal, we also need to maintain business so we can continue to be of service to others. For us, that means that your future reservations allow us to donate 50% (+ working on more) of our fleet of camper vans to temporarily house displaced individuals and aide workers. We wouldn’t be able to do this financially if we weren’t able to look forward to your future reservations.

If you planned on visiting Lahaina or other areas of Maui’s West side, we can help guide you to other parts of the island that are more suitable to explore during this time.

If you have questions for us regarding your future travel plans, don’t hesitate to reach out to us directly. Know that email is best at this time, as we oftentimes have our boots on the ground volunteering our time in various ways to support displaced families. We appreciate your patience as our reply time may be slower than usual.
