ATTENTION FATHERS
I have struggled all day with how to put this thought into words. In all of my 46 years on this planet, I can count on one hand how many times I heard the words “I love you” from my dad. I’m not saying he didn’t care, only that he wasn’t able to verbalize his love for me.
Three words, three syllables, yet somehow one of the most powerful phrases ever spoken. Three words that can convey warmth, and can be used in a congratulatory manner. Three words that I never have the chance to hear from my dad again. Men, it IS NOT a threat to your manhood to tell your son that you love him. Your son will remember it when he needs to, young boys need that reassurance in their lives just as much as young girls. You may think your son knows you love him, but it’s three simple words, three syllables, not even a full breath. Yet possibly the three most powerful words in the world. TELL HIM. I lost my father this week. I will never be able to hear those words from him again. I will miss him every day for the rest of my life
