Marshfield Hills Pottery Marshfield Hills Pottery Studio is a charming studio space located in the former Damon Carriage Factory, which dates back to the mid 19th Century.

The studio is in the heart of the nationally registered historic district Marshfield Hills Village, just around the corner from the North River Arts Society. Classes are offered year-round, providing instruction for all levels and ages of students’ experience working with clay.

General information

Classes for Children (Grades 2-5) Students learn basic hand-building methods with clay such as making pinch pots, coiling, and working with slabs. Fun projects will be created while learning the technical qualities of this very forgiving media. All projects will be glazed and fired. Children’s classes are held in the afternoon from 4:00 to 5:30. Classes for Teens (Grades 6-12) Teens of all levels of experience are welcome to begin or continue on their journey working with clay. All hand-building techniques will be explored in addition to basic wheel-throwing methods. All work will be glazed and fired. Teen classes begin this summer. Classes for Adults Students learn basic wheel-throwing techniques and hand-building methods including pinching, coiling, and slab work. In addition to functional pieces, students are welcome to explore sculptural forms with clay. Adult classes are held in the evening from 6:30 to 9:00.
