My husband and I recently enrolled in TSA Precheck, so I thought it would be a great opportunity to talk about it!
The process was so easy. We Preenrolled online and set our appointment at a local Enrollment Facility. Once there, we were both in and out in about 10 mins. At the appointmentthey just verified our questions we answered online, verified our IDs, took fingerprints, and a photo. We got our Known Traveler Numbers in 2 days!
Precheck is a great option for those who frequently travel by air domestically.
It allows you to use dedicated security lines(i.e. shorter wait times), keep your shoes on and leave 3-1-1 liquids and laptops in your bags.
Global Entry would be a great option for someone who travels internationally more than once a year. Some places online say at least once a year, or even once in the 5 year Memership time, but I think if you only go through Customs once in 5 years, the Precheck would still be a great option for you.
Global Entry gets you all the perks of TSA Precheck, plus expedited processing through Customs upon arrival into the U.S.
There is another option called Clear. It uses biometrics such as fingerprints and retina scan, but I think the cost is a little outrageous at $189 per year. It really only allows you to bypass the ID and Boarding Pass verification.
Do you have any of these memberships? I'd love to hear your thoughts and questions about these Programs!
