Beautiful day to get out and enjoy the eagles.
There is still time to sign up to participate in tomorrow's Southern WV Eagle Watch! It runs from 10 - 2 on January 7th, registration is required (but it's free!). Drop an email to [email protected] to sign up. Volunteers are gathering for the 18th Annual Eagle Watch covering Summers, Monroe, and Giles counties along with portions of Fayette, Raleigh and Mercer. Veteran watchers are teamed up with new volunteers, so all ages are welcome. Dress for the weather and pack a lunch, if you have binoculars or spotting scopes they are helpful. We will be counting both bald and golden eagles and noting bald eagle nest locations & activity. Can't make the Watch? Join in the gathering at the Hinton Dairy Queen at 2:45 to hear everyone's results and notes from the field. Final tally will be posted here on this page later next week. Thanks to Sharyn Ogden for the photo of a bald eagle over Bluestone Lake!
