On the road we offer a variety of goods & services to lessen the environmental impacts of festivals & celebrations. Services include a solar powered sound system, healthy, organic backstage hospitality (prepared in solar ovens,) and goods include durable To-Go Ware, silverware bundles (in cloth napkins), stainless steel drink bottles and solar ovens. rounding food production from soil health and gardening/farming to solar oven & haybox cooking. Sol Kitchen classes include field trips to local farms and conclude with a celebration meal.

Hi all,

We are looking for help as we go into Grassroots as a vendor! For those interested, we will have a meeting on Friday, 6/21 at 6:30 at Cornell Cooperative Extension in Ithaca.

Dish Truck is a non-profit, pollution prevention effort, based in the Ithaca, NY region, whereby clean durable dishes are provided to event coordinators, small-scale food enterprises and the general public to use in place of disposable dishware. (www.dishtruckorg)

We are looking for on-call folks to assist with staffing events and washing dishes, and we are seeking folks with the following:

· Able to lift 40 pounds regularly
· Good with numbers and counting
· Able to work patiently with the public
· Knowledge of commercial kitchen protocols
· Reliable transportation

Preference given to those with knowledge of Tompkins County composting guidelines, and ServSafe Certified.

We provide on the job training, a shift meal at the events, and aprons.

Pay is commensurate with experience.

Earth Day Ithaca 2018 is happening on…Earth Day! This year we will be commemorating on Sunday, April 22nd from Noon-7pm, again at the Space @ Greenstar. As history threatens to roll us back to the inspirations of the original impetus for Earth Day, this year we will be looking at how the arts frame, express and shape the environmental and now sustainability movement.

We hope to see the familiar faces we’ve come to know and love through the years through tabling and outreach, as well as welcome artisans with eco-minded displays, hands on activities and/or mini-workshops. We will be having traditional tabling from 12-3 with light, acoustic music. 3-5pm is open for presentations, including the annual Signs of Sustainability awards. Be on the lookout for your chance to vote! At 5 we’ll close out the day with the One Heart Drum Circle.

Dish Truck is Re-Crewting-Help Make Garbage Obsolete! Dear Community,

Over the past year the Dish Truck crew has helped over a dozen event coordinators lower their environmental impacts by using our volunteer services and displacing over 6000 pieces of garbage from the landfill. We have worked on events as small as 30 people and as large as 400, and our clients/events include an 80th birthday party, 2 weddings, Grassroots Festival, GIAC events and the President’s Sustainable Campus Committee summit at Cornell. We are already booking for 2018 and need your help.

If you are interested in volunteering to help make garbage obsolete, join us for a short 2-hour training session on Saturday, January 6th, from 10am until Noon at Cornell Cooperative Extension to prepare for the coming year. Benefits to volunteering with us include behind the scenes admission to great events such as Grassroots, a yummy meal from one of our many local food purveyors, knowledge that you are making a solid and positive environmental impact, shared company with like-minded people in a lively environment and more. Did we mention the hero's welcome we often get?

Dear friends,

Last year when composting guidelines for the county changed to no longer accept to-go dishware, the increase in solid waste (garbage) sent to landfills from festivals could be measured in tons. (yes, tons) Dish Truck is working to ensure that this does not continue through providing durable dishes to food vendors, and we are looking for volunteers, particularly for the Grassroots Festival from July 19th through the 24th! In exchange for 12 hours of work behind the scenes in hospitality, helping to help keep the scene clean and green, you get the other 84 hours of the fest to go Zydeco, flex your yogic postures, get your faces painted or contemplate the Art Barn and more.

We need runners, dishwashers, station monitors and folks who can do all of the above. Interested? The sign up link is here and the deadline is this Thursday, July 13th. More information is below but if you have any questions, feel free to email me at [email protected].

To sign up there is a $5 processing fee and you will need to put down a credit card for the amount of the ticket we would like (1 day, 4 day etc.,) at the gate. The hold is refunded within a couple of days after Grassroots ends.

Where it asks for your top crew choice, indicate "Hospitality" and then in the next box where it asks you to fill in if the crew name is not on there, please type in "Dish Truck".

We will have a mandatory orientation meeting at 6:00 pm near the hospitality tent on Wednesday July 19th. If you cannot make it, please let me know asap.
