Medicine Park has been known as the gateway to the wichitas for years and years. The amount of history and undiscovered fun awaiting won’t dissapoint.

2024 has been an awesome year. 2025 will be even better. We would like to thank all of you for your support as we hit the 7k sub mark and 100k total views for the month of December. We have some awesome projects underway and can’t wait to tell you some amazing stories in the coming months. The best part - it will remain free.

Southwest Oklahoma is the Mecca for Great Plains history. When we tell stories, we put in the time researching - we don’t just guess or ask Google AI for answers. We strive to be as accurate as possible. This is a hobby for us. Stay tuned and Happy New Year!

Did you know the bison were brought here in the early 1900s ? It originally started with the relocation of 15 and has now well surpassed that in numbers greater than 600+! They were brought to the refuge from New York and the rolling hills have been more than enough for them, even all these years later.

Winter is here. Be sure to make a trip through the refuge to see the snow covered hills if by chance if the snow sticks this coming weekend.

Check in with the refuge page for closures, inclement weather can shut down Mt. Scott. Friends of the Wichitas
