The beach is now open for the season! Swimming is permitted effective Wednesday, May 1st, 2024 through the end of September, 8am to sunset (weather permitting). The concession stand and boat rental facility will open Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day.

Last year, we found an incredibly well-preserved ancient ski still stuck in the ice near Mount Digervarden. We took a small sample of the withe used in the foothold to date the ski. The withe was made from alder and the date came back AD 668-775! This fits the date range of another ski found close by in 2014, and confirms that the two skies are a pair. The new date is narrower in range than for the 2014 ski and places the ski pair in what is known as the Merovingian Iron Age here in Norway. The two skis from Digervarden are the best preserved ancient ski pair in the world - 1300 years old😍
