A mom is a rare gem, one that can never be replaced. A mom gives us a place to always return to, a place that's secure. Moms are super heroes that manage to make our lives complete, many times at their expense. I want to wish each and every mom a beautiful day. If you're lucky to have your mom at your side, make sure she knows how special she is 365 days a year. Love to all.
Talk about experiences! When have you eaten under the sea? We enjoyed 5.8 an Under the Sea restaurant that was the final touch to a perfect trip. From the ambiance that was surreal to the service and menu, it was perfection. Experiencing life from below, made us even more grateful and aware that this world is bigger than we can ever imagine. The menu options are Meat, Seafood (that was our choice....but the fish looked at us weird lol) and I believe vegan (not sure). The material to build this was shipped from Japan to New Zealand where they began putting it together and they will have to bring it out of the water for maintenance years from now. Shoes are left at the door and you feel free as you step downstairs and find yourself surrounded by different shades of blue. Let's plan your undersea experience.
Last night was a magical evening. We booked the Sea & Sand located at the most Western side of the island where the sun sets. We selected the seafood feast under the stars which includes appetizers, 2 glasses of champagne, dessert and the feast. We were mesmerized by the sunset and then a whole new world full of stars, which isn't typical in the city due to the lights. The service was spectacular and the company even better. Great way to close the stay at Kuredu! Follow us for our next island adventure.
Yesterday we enjoyed the beach and water like we have never experienced before. Before the beach, we saw a school of dolphins swimming right in front of our beach villa and while on the beach, bats enjoying fruits from the trees. There is magic everywhere you look. I will be returning home rejuvenated.
Last night we tried an a'la carte restaurant called Beach Shack...you guessed it, directly on the beach with sand under your feet, the sound of waves, people diving at night in the short distance and a seaplane right in front of us and music that I love in the background. The food was exceptional, but more so, the service. This is the best time of year to come here since it is low season, so this place is basically yours to enjoy. We had Arabic breaded prawns, scallops, and a snapper for dinner, of course, with an Italian Pilot Grigio bottle of wine. You can see the gym in one of the images for those that enjoy working out during vacation, but this time, with an amazing view! During the summer, our server told us it gets extremely busy and I can imagine, extremely hot. The water temperature was divine when we enjoyed the beach today, so I strongly recommend this time of year for those interested in visiting the Maldives. Dubai was more than a modern city full of skyscrapers that touch the clouds with modern architecture difficult to imagine possible. On day 2, we went on a Sunset Desert Safari where vehicles took us through sand dunes and terrain making it one BIG adventure to stop for amazing photo opp and then to a spot in the middle of nowhere...an oasis with pillows, canopy and cool drinks just to sit and watch the sun set among orange sand dunes and no city lights. We then went off to a camp, in the middle of nowhere, where camels took us for a short ride, some went Sand boarding down a slope, some of us enjoyed a henna (tattoo), drinks, amazing buffet spread, entertainment (light because of Ramadan holiday otherwise extremely lively with belly dancers, and other artists). This was one memorable day since everything about it was different. The backdrop looked like we were in Egypt and the final icing on the cake.. a meteor falling in a red blaze miles away but clearly visible to all. This is life. During our stay in Dubai, we were able to venture to Abu Dhabi, the capital city. It is incredible how 1 hour 20 minutes can show such a difference between 2 cities. Dubai, is a very busy and quite "tight" area where congestion both in buildings and traffic is very evident. In contrast, the capital was green, airy, open. Interestingly, this country appears to have tapped into worldly recognized concepts for example the dome in one of the pictures is the 'Louvre" museum where they paid France millions to use the name for a period of 30 years (25 years remaining); and the hotel that appears to look like Atlantis was constructed during covid and not yet completed. UAE consists of a treaty among 7 countries. The United Arab Emirates is an elective monarchy formed from a federation of seven emirates, consisting of Abu Dhabi, Ajman, Dubai, Fujairah, Ras Al Khaimah, Sharjah and Umm Al Quwain. Dubai is less conservative than its capital Abu Dahbi but Abu Dahbi is a more open area concept with less traffic and congestion. We were surprised to have actually enjoyed more Abu Dahbi. Both must be visited to truly take in the culture.
The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque is located in Abu Dhabi, the capital city of the United Arab Emirates. It is the country's largest mosque, and one of the top 13 largest in the world. The Persian rug was handmade by ladies and shipped in 11 parts. The chandeliers are precious jewels and the stones were shipped from Turkey and Italy. Natural materials were chosen for much of its design and construction due to their long-lasting qualities, including marble stone, gold, semi-precious stones, crystals and ceramics. The flowers in the walls have mother of pearls if you look closely. The mosque holds 41,000 worshippers and the Sheikh was buried behind the columns in the garden. Travel expands our minds and it gives us hope that as humans we become more tolerant and kind of others.
Al Farooq Omar Bin Al Khattab Mosque is
Inspired by the Blue Mosque in Istanbul, the design follows a similar Ottoman style with Andalusian influences. Rising 30 metres into the sky and holds over 2000 worshippers. Visitors are provided with adequate attire to enter the mosque. Did you know that Muslims pray 5 times a day with a 6th time of day being optional? The first prayer begins shortly after 4:15 a.m. +/- until 7 p.m. +/-. Women have a separate praying room since they believe that having men and women combined in the same prayer room will be a distraction since they have many body movements throughout the prayers. It is incredible how much information we gain about cultures (regardless of our personal beliefs). We have found Dubai to be modern in architectural style and extravaganzas and with people that are warm and eager to welcome you and offer excellent hospitality. Dubai is full of diversity as well. We found it to have a huge Indian and British population. I must admit that it was a nice surprise and memorable experience. Visit us www.hnstravels.com
So, there's nothing short of extravagant in Dubai. Which one should I buy lol?
On our last day in Dubai, we visited the Dubai Miracle Garden, a botanical garden showcasing over 150 million flowers plus having an opportunity to even come face to face with the Falcon, Dubai's national bird. As you stroll, there are so many food stops and photo opp spots. This was beautiful and a wonderful 2 hour experience. We even got to enjoy fresh juices under a flower canopy. #traveldubai #love2travel
On day 1 we opted to relax and visit the famous Dubai Mall before our lunch. When you first see it from the outside, you think it's just a mall. When you enter, this place becomes magical from a huge aquarium, ice skating rink, zoo, theater, foodies heaven and shopper's paradise. We could only see the tip of this mall. Nothing in Dubai is small... must visit this country! Continue following us as we share our experiences.
An experience in itself at Sal at Al Burj Arab today. I was given beautiful flowers after dinner in celebration of our anniversary. Exquisite Service combined with a quality meal, is truly memorable. We know the tricks to experience places otherwise thought of as untouchable. #lovetotravel #dubai
The Burj Al Arab Jumeirah is both a luxurious hotel with a distinctive sail-shaped silhouette on a man-made island on Jumeirah Beach which is a stunning sight from the moment it becomes visible from a distance making it look like an Arabian dhow. Not only is it a luxurious all-Suite hotel but it holds some of the finest dining by Michelin starred chefs. We enjoyed lunch today at Sal, a restaurant that is both a feast for the palate and eyes. We began with calamari and octopus carpacchio which were both some of the finest and freshest ever eaten. This Portugal /Iberian cuisine is beyond a true culinary experience. We then headed to order a Salted Sea Bass for two accompanied by roasted potatoes, grilled peppers and roasted root vegetables. Not only was it amazing in taste, the presentation was a show in itself. Nothing better than a fine meal as we Celebrate 32 years of marriage. To access this stunning property, you must either be staying at the property or have dining reservations. Truly a remarkable experience and highly recommended for lunch when visiting Dubai!
