Moose Lake is the "Agate Capital of the world!"

What is a Lake Superior Agate?

Lava once flowed through the area of Lake Superior. As it cooled, water filled the air pockets. This water contained minerals and deposited layers of quartz that then hardened. Lake Superior agates are known for their reddish color and white banding layers. Minnesota designated the Lake Superior Agate as the state gemstone in 1969.

Spring is here and it is a great time to start getting out on the trails. The Soo Line trail system is just blocks away and easy to access from the cottage.

Spring cleanup has begun. Lots of big branches were taken down with the heavy snow this winter. There will be plenty of wood for fires this summer. Violas have been planted and add some beautiful color to the cottage.

Welcome to White Pine Cottage. Outdoor charm with small town feel. White Pine sits on 14 acres on the edge of Moose Lake, Mn with two separate living/sleeping spaces. Surrounded by a mix of mature pines and hardwoods, we experience a wide variety of wildlife and birds.
The community of Moose Lake is a gateway to the north boasting access to both the Willard Munger paved hiking/biking/smowmobile trail system and the Soo Line ATV Trail System, a public beach with boat access and a state park.
