SO ... this is how my Friday morning has started ...

EVENT ALERT: BEWARE OF TICKET SCAMMERS!
We have just been alerted that people are lying about having tickets "they can no longer use" but want to sell. Please note: we have a MASTER GUEST LIST with the name of every ticket holder for both nights of the Music Fest. Tickets are non-transferrable without PROOF of original purchase. Do NOT fall for their bait. Each person making a false claim on our page will be reported immediately.

On December 1, 1948, the gate of Watauga Dam closed, inundating 11,600 acres of land, the town of Butler and many surrounding communities. This resulted in the relocation of 1,281 graves and displacement of 650 families, many of whose ancestors had helped settle this area of the state and called this area home for generations.

At noon on Friday, December 1, 2023, the public is invited to join the Museum of Butler, as the community commemorates the 75th anniversary of this monumental event in Johnson County's history. A tree will be planted by museum volunteers in honor of "the town that wouldn't drown."

The Museum of Butler, TN, will also feature a special Christmas tree during the Festival of Trees being held at the Johnson County Welcome Center from December 2 through December 22, 2023. The tree will feature many of the images portraying the events leading up to 1948.

The ceremony will be livestreamed on the museum's page:
