It’s been a while since we posted, we apologize for that. We’ve been working very hard on creating new avenues to expand our little business. The next few months we will be concentrating on that but we continue packing and shipping products sold on our Etsy sight. Today we packed our single largest order yet. We are in awe of the success you all have had using our products and just wanted to take a moment to say thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all the stories and compliments you’ve shared.

It was 27 degrees at 7:30am, and 32 degrees at 11:30am on December 13th when I took this photo. Notice the empty net, it never saw a fish today. It was by no means a wasted trip however. Dedication and discipline, fortitude and determination, hours of practice and presentation, do not always end in gratification.
Leading up to this photo I did something I almost never do. I shared a grip and grin with a beautiful brown trout. I share lots of fish pics, but fish holding selfies… almost never.
I didn’t grow as a fisherman or a sportsman the day I shared that grip and grin, I was no more knowledgeable or skilled on that day. Today the water delivered a lesson in humility and humbleness. The ability to dedicate yourself to something without constant gratification is what creates lasting success.
The other day I left the water feeling like a master of my game… today…. A fumbling fool, neither are true.
The truth will be…. That I didn’t quit, and that I didn’t stop learning. That I’m not as good as my photo gallery looks and not as bad as this picture portrays.
No matter what you are doing keep doing it… every day doing it makes you better, even on the days when you don’t feel it. Especially on the days you don’t feel it!

December 3rd, 2023. The temperature warmed to about 41 degrees with a very steady rain. The trout didn’t seem to wander far from their wintering holes. The dozen or so that made it to the net were all caught in the places you would typically expect in December. A few on nymphs but the overwhelming majority were after that larger streamer meal.
Winter is a season that shouldn’t be overlooked for trout fishing. The bite and fight are still there, the techniques are a little different, but the results can be just as good as any spring day.

📢 As of recently, Etsy has been double charging shipping to customers on certain orders. We have no idea why this is happening and have done everything we can think of to stop it! I have contacted support with no resolution. I have made our item dimensions as small as possible and input numerous box and envelope sizes for them to choose from when calculating shipping. Nothing has worked and it continues to happen to certain orders. Trust and believe we refund EVERY customer that this happens to for the excess shipping charge. We hope to transition to a new online storefront in the next few months but in the meantime wanted to address this with our loyal customers. And as always, orders over $35 ship for free to the continental US!

Spent the day prepping, cutting, dying, and hanging a bunch of the sold out colors of our 3mm stretchy and 5mm sparkle materials. These colors never last long so keep your eyes out this next week if you’d like any of them.

November 29 2023, 11am the temperature was just 23 degrees when I exited the vehicle. It would only be 27 degrees two hours later when I returned. The water temperatures have dropped drastically in the last 72 hours leaving just above freezing.
The trout have all entered their winter holding grounds and I was not expecting a streamer bite today. After just a few casts though, it became obvious that the nymphing game was not going to be an option. The nymph and egg patterns were freezing into ice cubes, covering the hooks completely.
I tied on a pair of streamers, the first a heavy jig style and just behind that an unweighted version of the same pattern.
I was stunned to see that the aggressive nature of the trout had not been subdued by the drastic drop in temperature. It was a pleasantly productive fishing adventure… until the reel froze solid. Go out there and get you some!!! The season never ends.

Even when tying a mop… be creative… make it look like something they see. Like a crane fly larvae. See all those piles of leaves in the stream beds, they’re larvae in every pile.

I want to share this, and tell you… I’ve been experimenting with troutbitten’s mono rig ever since I found their podcast, if you haven’t listened… do, it’s an advantage to your fishing that changes the game dramatically. I’d suggest starting out with the standard and really get to know it. The castability, and power of this rig, transition immediately into a tight line system as good as any other, offering sensitivity and strike detection, while casting like a fly line.
The guys at Troutbitten have forever changed the way I look at euro or tight line style fly fishing. If you buy their standard version make sure to check out their website and podcast… it’s advantage like no other.
