7/2/22 6 AM: Good morning eastern NC! Overnight Tropical Storm Colin spun up along the coast of South Carolina. Colin is forecast to move northeast around 8 mph which will take the storm along or just inland of the NC coast today into Sunday. The main impacts to NC will be numerous showers with locally heavy rainfall, wind gusts to 40 mph along the coast, and possibly an isolated tornado. Please monitor the NWS for the latest on Colin.

School is back in session!

Officer Flaugher and SRO Allen were there yesterday morning at Nags Head Elementary School to greet the kids being dropped off for the start of the new school year.

Be mindful of school zones and always slow your speed and watch for pedestrians.

Also, if you plan to attend Yoga on Tuesdays at Dowdy Park, or the Farmer's Market on Thursdays, parking is now prohibited at the school.

Have you ever seen a rocket launch from Cape Hatteras National Seashore? Now's your chance!

Today, August 10 at 5:56pm Eastern daylight time, the launch of the Northrop Grumman CRS-16 Rocket will be visible from the Outer Banks. This is a resupply mission for the International Space Station, launching from the Wallops Flight Facility in Virginia. The Cygnus spacecraft will carry nearly 8,200 pounds of cargo for the space station. The chart above shows the viewing area from the Eastern United States.
