Good time be 'into the earth' on a cold wet winter day. The cave seems even warm when chilly outside.

Drips are the bane of every wine drinker's existence. He or she uncorks a bottle of wine, tips it toward the glass, and a drop, or even a stream, runs down the side of the bottle. Sure, you could do what sommeliers in restaurants do, wrapping a napkin around the neck of the bottle to catch the liqui...

Kudos to the people in Livermore Valley Chamber for their support and well wishes while I was out visiting them this weekend. Here's a special gesture at Darcie Kent Vineyards that was amazing from so far away.

Napa City has lifted its evacuation advisory. Let's get back to enjoying some of what wine country does best...wine & dine!!

NAPA FIRES UPDATE Sat. 10/14
Just returned from scouting some other wine area down south, primarily Livermore. Nice place and a decent alternative if not able to get to Napa. That said, we are very spoiled in Napa and Sonoma and looking forward to business as usual here. Below are some pictures of central The Napa Valley and looking straight up north with Sonoma (west) side still smoking. Napa should be back in business by Monday in full swing. Yay!!

Saturday morning here in Napa...finally getting some relief from the poor air quality with the winds clearing things out. Some good news with better containment in the south area here, but up northwest & Sonoma still under duress. Heading out Livermore, California to scope out some wineries to go there as alternative for those coming in to SF.

As an option for those coming in to SF, we can conduct tours to Livermore Valley region. Same distance as to Napa and guests can stay in Pleasanton or downtown Livermore if needed. Let's do it...!!

So here we are today...I went up to Oakville and shot all of these along the way through Yountville and such. Not much open at all and YV was mostly a ghost-town. No direct damage just the looming smoke all around to remind us of the surrounding dangers and scorched hills. Less than optimal timing for all of us but we hope that this will be contained better somewhat by the weekend.

NAPA FIRES UPDATE - 10/12 - 8:00a
Very nice to wake up to clear skies over central Napa. Light winds keeping things in-check. Smoke remains to the east and southwest. The weather for the next couple of days will help...cool and fairly calm. I will be out today scouting up valley and seeing who is back up and running...ready to prepare for salvaging the remaining part of the harvest season. Pics to come later.

NAPA FIRES UPDATE
Our hearts and prayers go out to all that will be dealing with their loss over the past few days. Napa and Sonoma will forge on, and recover as the strong community they are. Most of the severe damage was focused on the east & south mountains of Napa and the Stags Leap and Atlas peak and Mt. Veeder areas. Sonoma was hit hardest in Santa Rosa and Knights Valley just north of Calistoga and south area below Mt. Veeder. Downtown and central Napa Valley were not directly affected and wineries will be open starting Wed. 10/12. The smoke has subsided and luckily the weather cooled and has blown a lot out east. We are running business as usual and starting our tours again 10/13. The best thing people can do is keep their plans and continue to support the valley during this time. Please feel free to contact me directly if you have any questions or concerns about coming out.
