Did you know that all wine grapes start out green? They form little baby clusters and then mature into beautiful rich flavorful grapes! For the red wine grapes as the sugars develop, Veraison happens which is the maturation stage of the fruit where the sugars increase and the color change occurs from green to red! You can see all the different color stages in a cluster and ultimately these clusters will be a deep purple color.
As you can see in this video the white wine grapes change from a vibrant green, to a beautiful golden yellow.
You'll also notice a clip where grape clusters have been cut off and dropped back into the soil. We do this in order to direct the vines energy into the grape clusters that will be the best for wine making.
This will also be another high-volume vintage and what we call fruit blight. This means that the growers have more fruit than what they have contracted and many times that fruit either gets dropped back into the soil or pressed into juice and sold to a second or third party.
This is one of my most favorite times of the year!

These girls came to conquer Napa to celebrate a 30th birthday and they did just that! They had a great itinerary, starting at O'Brien estate and then moving on to do a tasting at Brasswood! Then on to Clif Family four bottles of wine and lunch! They wrapped their day up at Round Pond.

We love sharing this amazing area with friends from all over the world! Today our friends from Buffalo New York enjoyed starting their day @oxbowpublicmarket spending time checking out the merchants and food options. Then onto @scribewinery where they enjoyed bottle service and cheese and charcuterie. Then onto @domainecarneros where they enjoyed the views and bubbles/wine. Then finally dinner at @adhoc_addendum where they were lucky enough to enjoy the famous fried chicken dinner with truffle Mac n cheese! They were incredibly kind and bought me a small bucket of the fried chicken because they know how much I love it! You guys were amazing and I feel confident that they had an awesome day!
