Clear as a Bell Music is an Indy Record Label, Music Publishing and Film and TV placement company located in Nashville, Tennessee, owned and operated by Terry Bell, a veteran of the music industry with over 30 years of experience in songwriting, music publishing, catalog maintenance and management, A&R, music production, song search, song plugging and licensing music for film and TV placement
Prior to starting his company Terry was a professional manager , part time song plugger and became the Creative Director working with his good friend Ron Cornelius , Nashville Cat and Country Music Hall of Fame guitar player for Bob Dylan , Leonard Cohen , Johnny Cash who is the owner of the Cornelius Companies and Gateway Entertainment It was there that he honed his the songwriting craft and developed his gift for finding great songs. During his time there he had 4 top 10 singles and a #1 song in the Positive Country format including his hit song “ “John Wayne and Jesus” that he co-wrote with Nick Granato at Gateway. The song launched the career of 18 year old Michael Grimm who later went on to win America’s Got Talent in 2010.
Terry listened to new songs that came into the company and helped Ron find top drawer songs to produce on Gateway Entertainment artists and to grow the publishing company catalog. One of the songs he heard at a local writers show was “ “A Man’s Home is His Castle “ written by Ariel Caten. The song was recorded by Faith Hill on her “ It Matters To Me” album that was released in 1995. The album was RIAA Certified 4 x Multi-Platinum in 2002 and to date as over 5 million in world -wide sales. Through the years Terry’s worked behind the scenes writing and finding songs with and for up and coming artists including his good friend JC Buckshot who recently had a #1 song land in the New Music Weekly Country charts for “ Crazy Over You “, a fun country song love song he co-wrote with JC. He also was involved in finding songs for another Gateway artist, Country pop singer Summer Schappell who was recently seen on the “ Voice “ and Bobby Marquez with their song “ Touch of a Woman” that charted in the Top 40 Texas Music charts and helped to launch Bobby’s career. Terry met country artist Tracy Lawrence when he first got to town and started writing with him and Wanda Collier, who he met when she was working as an assistant in AR at Warner Brothers. Tracy did 3 of the songs they co-wrote at his Bluebird Cafe showcase that helped get his first industry attention.
With the successes he’s had as a songwriter , working with Ron and his companies and the street smarts he learned about the music business, he decided to start his own company, Clear as a Bell Music in 2016 after leaving Gateway Entertainment to pursue his dream of running his own company and continuing his work with songwriters, artists to get their and his music out for the world to hear.
