We cordially invite you to our new “Wilder Études” presentation “Material”, which opens Friday Feb. 16th, 6 - 9pm in our showroom space.

“Wilder Études” is a curatorial project where we take a word or phrase and create a shoppable edit around it. Starting with “Green” in 2017, we have created numerous curatorial presentations, and this is our most exciting one yet.

“Material” will examine not only the use of established materials in art and design, but also the use of unusual materials such as emerging bio-materials: Hempwood, Mycelium and Bananatex.

There will music, good vibes and yes, refreshments will be served.

I could not be happier to announce that The Callaway is bringing the incredible high desert oasis that is into our fold. Jacumba Hot Springs Hotel is an epic property in an historic town on the California/Mexico border, less than an hour east of San Diego. The town was once a hot spot for celebrities and hot springs enthusiasts in the 1930s. Flash forward almost a century to 2020, when the team at We Are Human Kind purchased the hotel and most of the town (!) and started making big, big plans to bring Jacumba back to its original glory. It’s a gift to get to work with talented, passionate folks like Melissa, Corbin and Jeff on a design and hospitality project that vibes so well with my professional expertise and personal interests. Welcome, Jacumba! We’re going to make some amazing things happen together.

has taken their beautiful show on the road for a three-city jaunt and they’re stopping in Nashville! The You Look Good Tour rolls into town this Saturday, Sept. 23 at 225 11th Avenue South in The Gulch. There, from 11 am - 6 pm, guests will we welcome to board their custom mirrored 18-wheeler and enjoy a carnival, Glossier-style. Drop by for samples, shopping for products (all the fan- favorite products will be on hand) and tour-exclusive merch, food, games, and a chance to win prizes on their spinning fortune wheel. For this event, Glossier is teaming up with , a non-partisan non-profit that empowers young women to run for office, build civic engagement skills, and become the next generation of political leaders. We’re so proud of Eric Lincoln and Julia Jaksic, co-owners of longtime and , who announced yesterday that they’ll be opening a bar in downtown Nashville’s Arcade next year. The as-of-yet unnamed space is going to be an oasis of chic, calm and community in the heart of downtown. The bar will feature a custom cocktail menu and small plates of yumminess, to be enjoyed in a space designed by Julia and our good pal Nick Dryden of . Think Italian Deco. I love a good full-circle moment. I met in the late ‘90s, when we were both working as fashion editors in NYC. She’s always been a delight - kind, smart, generous, and Southern to boot. She left the media side of the fashion business in 1999 and kicked off her second career as retailer, opening the now-iconic , a multi-brand designer boutique, in Soho. Earlier this year, we were reconnected, as Beth started her search for a Nashville location. Today, I am happy to announce that The Callaway is helping her introduce Kirna Zabête to Music City, as renovations begin on the 4,000-square-foot space on Hillsboro Pike that once housed Shindigs & Celebrations. She plans to open in Spring 2023 — a date that can’t come soon enough. Congratulations, Beth! And congratulations, Nashville! Watch this space for more soon.

This is a appreciation post. I love Wednesdays at 11 AM. That’s when I have my weekly check-in with and .higney, the owners of , the medical skin spa in downtown Nashville. I have been working with Team Complexion for the last few months. They are superb clients, but more importantly Beth and Natalie are wonderful people. And man, they are excellent medical aestheticians. I have been using Complexion’s AM and PM Serums since April and the difference they’ve made for my skin is phenomenal. (A little Dysport hasn’t hurt either.) I know my skin has never looked better. And it makes sense, considering that Beth and Natalie spent over two years working on the custom formulations for their first entries in their signature product collection.
