Sarah Milkie received a Master's of Science in Interior Design from the Pratt Institute in 2010. While completing her degree, Sarah worked several internships and freelance jobs and since graduating, Sarah has been immersed in the field of hospitality design at Joseph Foglia Design (JFD) in Brooklyn, NY. While working at JFD, Sarah helped design and open 6 high profile bars and restaurants in and

around New York City. In addition to her education and design experience, Sarah has worked in all areas of the the restaurant and bar industry for over 16 years therefore giving her an excellent understanding and unique insight of how restaurants and bars should be designed for both beauty and, of course, functionality. Clients appreciate that she is able to utilize her experiences and knowledge while satisfying their design needs.

Amari is cocktail bar specializing in Absinthe and Amaro is Nashville, TN. Milkie Design Studio designed the space to feel like an European coffee shop. Everything was hand distressed by MDS to look old and as if it had always been there. MDS faux painted the walls to look like peeling plaster, Collaged the bathroom with vintage prints, rusted all the metal in the space, built farm tables using antique legs, designed all the furniture, whitewashed the wood, etc.

This space was designed to be Laurent Tourondel's new BLT American Brasserie in Midtown, Manhattan but instead opened as the new Butter from Chef Alex Guarnaschelli. These drawings were done in conjunction with Joseph Foglia Design in Brooklyn, NY.
